Spotify giving error that something went wrong when I try to log in

This is my girlfriend's question about her account as she cannot log in to ask this question and we've tried everything we can think of:

I went to use Spotify on the way home and realized I had been logged out of my account. The mobile app doesn't show any message, but the computer shows "Oops! Something went wrong; please try again or check out our help area."
I tried resetting my password but never got an email. It's not that the account isn't linked to this email; as a test, I put another email of mine in to log in, and it gave me a message stating I don't have an account. I am also still getting charged for my subscription so I would really like to use my account!

That error is a connection based error which means the Spotify client was unable to communicate with the Spotify servers. Normally it does mean your connection is being prevented by a firewall or other security software - but it can also be caused by other factors.

 

You could try to connect using a different Wifi network, just to see if it's a local issue or a network one.
