I have had the free version of Spotify for a few years now. Earlier in the year I used my credit card to download one song. On the 17th of this month, Spotify took £9.99 from my credit card apparently for my subscription. Firstly I did not ugrade my account, and secondly the money was taken without my permission. It looks like they have stored my card details from that single download and just helped themselves!
I have contacted them to get it sorted but have had no response. This is theft and I want my money back! Who else can I contact to get this sorted??
Solved! Go to Solution.
I had purchased premium free trial for 30 days, and I thought it would be free (£0:00) forever, but it wasn't. Got a statement from my bank telling me spotify (you) had taken £9:99 out of my bank without warning! Its still happening now. At the time of writing this were now in 1st September. And IM worried that moneys going to be taken out of my account! I want it to stop please! ive cancelled my subscription, it now tells me IM using spotify free, and ive changed my payment to no payment used (or something like that) my mum wants this to stop, she's mad with me, and I need my money in my bank for school supply's as I go back on the 5th.
Please help me!! I want this to stop, its driving me up the wall. And I'm getting upset about it!
Thank you for your consideration. Hope you receive this message! I'm desperate for the £9:99 money debit to stop! Thanks!!
Contact your bank and ask them to stop the payments. If they have taken money out after you cancelled, report it. If you used a credit card, you can claim your money back through them card company. I had my money back pretty quickly.
so spotify took money out even though i cancelled my account, how do i get it back?

Hey @molliemacphee ! Welcome to the community 🙂
Since this is a billing issue, you will need to get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form and they will be able to get it sorted out for you via email.
If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

I am absolutely furious after cancelling my subscription more than a month ago, to find my last £10 removed from my account by what is clearly a scam corporation.
I will be contacting my bank and spreading the word to every person I know, Spotify user or otherwise, via all channels including social media, to raise awareness of what this company is doing to innocent consumers who agree to 'trial' this awful service.
And rest assured Spotify, I will not stop until this issue is escalated to the highest level I can get it to.
Funny that there is no contact number on your website also, making it far more difficult for anyone to communicate with you.

Hi, I'd just like to check to see what the status of this is now. Did you manage to get in touch with us?
If not, I'll be happy to look into this myself. Just let us know, either way.
Hi there. Spotify has charged me 9.99 in june and july. the only account (via facebook?I don't remember making this as I dont remember going on spotify for a very very long time) states that i currently have a free account. I don't remember ever giving over bak details. Is this fraud? What has happened? has someone else used my bank details to pay for their spotify account? how can I stop this ASAP?
