Looks like the only option to change country is to pay the premium, is that right ? Don't really want to have to pay if the only issue is being created since I created the account while on holiday.

You do not need to pay for premium to change your country to be correct. Try the steps here:

I have a similar issue. I just returned to Colombia from a two month long trip to Germany. I used Spotify the whole time there. I have already changed the country in my profile to Colombia, however I get this message upon trying to log in:
"Your country does not match the one set in your profile. To continue use, update your profile or upgrade your account (...) "
The country in my profile is already set to Colombia. I am not traveling, I live here. What options do I have? What may be wrong?

If you get an automated email directing you to the community boards go ahead and reply back anyway even if it is from a noreply, and a customer rep should get with soon.
I have the same issue.
And when I try to switch my country from UK to Estonia from my profile it reverts it back to UK.
I've been living in Estonia for 6 years now.

im having a similar problem with the same message popping up however i did not leave my country nor did i leave my province. i cannot even log into my account so how would i fix this?

Spotify thinks I am abroad, even I have not traveled in past 6 month, and got it Spotify only 7days. I have tried to change the country, to see what will happen but on the list is only UK.
Also, I am trying to pay for a Premium, but it does not goes through. Why is that?
