Spotify won't accept my username even though it's correct

Spotify won't accept my username even though it's correct

I recently bought a new laptop and wanted to get Spotify running on it as soon as possible. Apparently this was a problem, as the Windows app for Spotify didn't accept my username. I tried my primary email (which I already know for certain is the one I used to create the account), my secondary email, my screen name and a second screen name I thought I might've used, and I even tried the randomized combo of numbers and letters that Spotify assigns each user. I know my password is correct because it told me I couldn't change my password to something it already was when I tried resetting it, not to mention I logged onto the website and now onto this community blog with the email and password I tried first with no issues. What should I do?

I should also mention that I'm still logged in on my phone. It's fine on that front.

Hey there @Andydoo,

Glad to have you on the Community 🙂

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties accessing your account on your new laptop. No worries, we're here to help!

Keep in mind that your manually chosen display name cannot be used to log in to your account, but you can use your email address or the automatically generated username to access your account.

Can you try logging in to your account page with your email address and password and check your personal details, before trying to log in on the desktop app again?

Should the above tactics don’t work, check out this support page for more tips and tricks.

If you still cannot log in, it would be great if you could share a screenshot of the error message with us, so that we can see what's going on. Just make sure to hide any private information on anything you post in the Community.

Hope this helps! Let us know how you get on.

So since I posted last I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I also tried downloading it from the browser since I got it through the Windows Store before. I didn't get any different results. Here's what I keep seeing.

And again, I can log into my account elsewhere no problem. It's specifically the app that doesn't accept my credentials.

Hi there @Andydoo,

Thanks for getting back to us with a screenshot of the error message!

Have you tried @Xenia's suggestion to log into your account page to check what your email is? Does it work to log into your account with email and password?

If not, can you reset your password and try logging in with the new one and your email again?

Can you also clarify what do you mean by 'elsewhere' - Webplayer, account page?

Thanks in advance!
