Still cant log in, no help available

Still cant log in, no help available

Hello community,  So like many others before me, Im trying to log into a spotity account set up a long time ago (when i lived in a different country - and i have read a lot on here that this causes issues. However, as common as this is - there is no findable solution. Trust me ive been going in circles, for way too long.)

So i cant log in.. and it is telling that my account was linked to facebook (dont rem) and to change my password i need to go there, which i have done. Still cant log in. Where this query was riased before in the commnuity and is listed as 'solved' suggested to go to the 'contact page', but guess what - you need to log in to do that, obviously not possible when the problem is you cant log in. Next solution - to change country guess what, i have to log in. So to even try to get to this commnity to ask this questions, i had to set up another account becasue there is noone to ask and no way to log in. Can anyone on here tell me how to log into my original account, or otherwsie delete it so i can use my own email again! And from what im reading, this problem is around a long time! Not encouraging me to buy into spotify...i was so ready to get going with this....but that was before all of this nonsense in 2017!

Hey @whitecandlelite

Since you created your account through Facebook, follow this to get a device password:

  1. Go to Facebook settings.
  2. Select Security.
  3. Select App Passwords
  4. Click Generate App Password
  5. Enter your current Facebook password and click Submit.
  6. Enter Spotify, and Facebook will automatically generate a password for you.

You can use it, with your Facebook email address as username, to log into Spotify directly on any device.

 Hope it helps. 🙂

Thanks a mill. Ill try this, but before I do, since this account changed to French or dutch when I opened it and I cant turn it back to english, do you know how to swap language to English? I don't want my gmail account Spotify to change language...! (live in belgium, but german and English are spoken as much as fr and ductch here)!

That can be done from the Desktop app. Click on your account in the top right corner and your find Préférences > Langue 🙂

ok thanks for trying to help, but 1) there is no listing called preferences on the top right of my account as you describe (on desktop).

Also, i went to my facebook to look at the old account, and cannot find 'change app passwards' in settings. The sequence you list is not a possibility. Is this an older version youre reffering to. It looks like thigns have changed and in the new layout, change app passwords is not an option..

I then tried to remove the spotify app from facebook, theres the option offered to delete it and i thought i could maybe start all over again with my gmail email account, but alas, itas now apparently not installed, so i cant delete it. What is going on! i give up.

You're right. Facebook changed their menus recently. (For now) this is how to get a device password:

  1. Go to Facebook settings.
  2. Select Security and Login.
  3. Select Use two-factor authentication.
  4. Select App Passwords
  5. Click Generate
  6. Click Generate App Passwords.
  7. If needed, enter your current Facebook password and click Submit.
  8. Enter Spotify, and Facebook will automatically generate a password for you.
