Student Discount Error / Charged

I attempted to sign up for the student discount and entered my school as it was provided. However, Spotify was unable to verify me as a student. I checked my bank account and was charged $4.99 and my account is still on the status "free". I did not receive any receipts, so I am sure it's just on hold/pending but it still took the money out regardless.

Ive contacted the "online contact form" and received an instant email referencing the help, community, and FAQ section which was unhelpful. After reading all of these issues from numerous customers, I am disappointed Spotify hasn't resolve this problem. Also, there is no customer support phone number which is a pain knowing there are numerous people out there with issues. The fact that you have to receive help via online is just a hassle.

I replied back to the automated / support email, so hopefully it will get resolved soon. If there is a solution to this without contacting support, Twitter, and other means please chime in. In the mean time, I am waiting for a reply via that email.

Thanks for replying. I will definitely try that manual verification now as I am highly sure it's a hold. Appreciate the link! Hopefully it will go through.

Hi @Nguyened92. As you pointed out yes, that is likely a hold. The nature of how a hold works require the funds to be withdrawn from your account so that they are available if the transaction is completed. Since your transaction was not completed the hold should be released within a few business days. 

 

As far as the student discount goes, once the hold clears, you can try again, and this time I would recommend trying again with manual verification from this page. 90% of the time the automatic verification process works without a hitch, but sometimes a more human touch is required.
