Switching over to a different facebook account through spotify

I didn't have a facebook to connect Spotify to, so I created a 'dummy' account. Now I have a facebook with my own name and own friends, and would like to connect Spotify to that one. I tried logging in with my own facebook information, and it said 'wrong username or password' which it is not considering I've tried over and over, and can log on to facebook with the same info. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling again, but still nothing. Is there any possible way of fixing this?

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂 

If you created your first account using Facebook, then there is no way to disconnect that account from the Facebook login you created it with. 

You will need to make a new Spotify account using your new Facebook details (or just an email address) from the signup page. Unfortunately, you will need to manually move all of your playlists from one account to the other. Try following steps 3-6 in my tutorial here.

I can get in to spotify through my new facebook account on the spotify website (play.spotify.com) because i have registered, but the app on my computer won't let me log in with my new facebook information. i've deactivated the dummy facebook account, but i still can't log in to the app with my new facebook info.

Not sure why this is happening, what happens if you try to create a new Spotify account using your Facebook account from the signup page?

it shows all my new facebook info, and after i click register, it just says "you already have a spotify account. please log in using facebook." and then i log in on the website and it works.

i was assuming that maybe it wasn't working because the app can only be hooked to one account on one IP address or something, does that sound right?

Very strange!

You definitely can't log in using your Facebook email address and password in the desktop client?

I'm having a similar problem, i'm looking to link my DJ facebook page to my spotify so as i can publish any new releases to my music based work page as well as my own sets from recent gigs using spotify playlists. it seems fine to link to my personal profile but not a "likeable" page. secondly i'd like to be able to link both the page and my personal profile to the same spotify account, which doesnt seem doable at the moment. any suggestions?

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂 

I know from past experience it is not possible to connect your Spotify account to a "Page" on Facebook, only your personal profile. You can however publish links on your page, just right click on any playlist name in the Spotify client, select "Copy HTTP Link" and then post on that your Facebook page.
