Targeted ads and google search

Hi. I wonder if spotify plays ads based on my google searches, and if so, how? 

Twice now ive noticed ads for something ive searched for on google, shortly before the ad played.

The exact same thing just happened to me!

After reading through their privacy policy, I'vs figured out this:
If you signed up feith a third party (facebook, google, etc.), they could have access to whatever data is gathered from that third party. So if you signed up through google, they could have access to your search history.
