Travelling

I have been traveling for about 2 weeks of a 6 week trip.  I stated using spotify (free version) a couple of weeks before this.  Suddenly, I find myself logged out.  When I log in it just logs me out again instantly.  In this modern era or international travel, is it really true that I can't use this overseas? If so, is clearly not the music player for me, but I find that very backwards in this day and age.  I think there must be some other issue.  Can anyone shed any light on this ? Anyone else had this error? Perhaps its not because I'm overseas, but there's anither issue.
