Unable to change country - can't access Spotify any more

Unable to change country - can't access Spotify any more

I signed up for a free Spotify account about 3-4 weeks ago. I don't remember being asked to set a country, and everything just worked so I didn't think anything of it. Then, after 14 days, suddenly I couldn't get online with Spotify any more. I did find a message saying that after 14 days I couldn't used Spotify abroad, which was confusing because I wasn't using it abroad! I live in Canada, I signed up for Spotify in Canada, I've never used it anywhere but my home PC.

I read the instructions to change my country setting, but when I tried to do this I found it was set to 'USA' and greyed out. There was no option to change the country to anything else. I checked my IP to see whether it was confusing things (I do use a VPN) but my IP comes up as Nova Scotia Canada which it should.

I've no idea how Spotify can know I don't live in the USA but not let me change my country setting? I emailed using the support contact form and was disappointed to get a generic reply with a link to the instructions how to change my coutnry settings. Clearly no one actually read the email I sent or they would have known I'd already done this. I was told to post here if I was still have problems, which I am. My email case # was 02584210 if that's relevant.

Perhaps someone could change my country setting to Canada for me to see if that sorts the problem?

Support usually replies within 24-48 hours.

If you still have not gotten a reply:

Did you get a confirmation email from the contact form? It should be similar to "Spotify Support Case #XXXXXXX". If so, reply back to that email and tell them you still need help.

If you got an automated reply email telling you to check the help section or the community, you need to reply back to it saying you still need help, even if it's from a no-reply address.

If you never got an email, look in your spam folder to see if there is an email in there. Make sure you are checking the email account you used to sign up to Spotify. You can check the email on your account here.

I have had a reply, like I said they told me if I still had a problem I should post here. Now I post here and you tell me I should reply to the email? Your support system is alittle odd!

I have forwarded your post to the support team at Spotify. Hopefully someone will be in contact soon.

Thanks for your patience.

I am also having this problem, moved to the UK and was unaware that I only had 14 days to change my country. Have also contacted the support team only to be told to check on here to see if anyone else has a solution.... which seems quite dismissive to me. How do I change my country to the UK now that I've been here longer than 14 days?

Thanks in advance!
