Unable to set device password on account

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has run into the same problem that I am.

I am currently trying (and have tried before) to set a Device Password to my Spotify account through Spotify's user portal, but can't seem to get it to work on Chrome or Internet Explorer.

This is the error I have been getting for a couple of weeks of trying now:

If it helps, I have signed up with spotify and currently use Facebook authentication.

I was told this was a way to use some Spotify clients that need a password to authenticate, but were signed up with Facebook authentication. If it is of anyone's interest, I am trying to get Spotify to work on a DLNA media server called Plex.

Any thoughts or input would be grealy appreciated.

I have looked at this, and it would still appear to require Facebook authentication to log in, at least from what I can tell.

I would need a way to log into Spotify without Facebook involved.

As a test, I did try to log into Spotify with my email and that generated password, but that didn't seem to do the trick.

Any other suggestions?

I am hijacking this :D.

If you want to log in without facebook authentication, just use your Facebook e-mail and password.

Awesome, this seems to work on the native Spotify client very well.

I think I tried this with another client plugin in Plex, and couldn't get it to work; it may be something they need to update.

I'm not too familiar with the Spotify auth API (if there even is a public one) to know if doing this just redirects authentication to Facebook or if Spotify stores this information themselves, but I'll definitely give it another go on the other client when I get home and post results.

As a side note, what I am trying to do is use the software Plex with a Spotify plugin here: https://github.com/fuzeman/Spotify2.bundle

Just found out there's other plugins I could try if this fails. If only Xbox One had a Spotify app haha.

Sorry for the late reply.

So I tried your suggestion and it does indeed work with the native Spotify client, but this does not work with Plex. Also, the Set Device Password feature still seems to be not working (these were the instructions given to me by the team who made the Plex bundle).

Any other suggestions?
