User Name is Random String

I created a new Spotify account for my wife and specified a Username along with her email ID.  I can't sign in with her specified Username but can with her email ID.  When I sign in with email ID the user name I specified is shown next to the user icon of the desktop app, but when looking at the "Account Overview" the Username is a long string of random characters.  I have tried and I can sign in with the long string of characters for the Username.  What's going on?  How can I change my Username to the one that I specified?  The long string of garbage isn't going to work.

Spotify is always testing new things in order to improve. Recently, they've made some changes to the sign-up form, so that users can now choose a display name instead of a username.

So how can I change the display name or the Username so that it isn't the long random string?  Is it a work in-process and will be editable later?  It's pretty messy the way it is now.
