Username

I created an account with my own username but instead it’s showing a combination of letters and numbers. Not happy, because I’ve just had to wait 7 days to create a new account for the same thing.

Hey @user-removed,

As Spotify looks to improve the overall experience, they’re now automatically generating usernames, hence the random numbers and letters.

You don’t need to remember this to log in. You can log in with just your password and the email address associated with your account.

During sign up, you were able to personalize your account by creating a profile name that’s displayed in the app. There are no limitations to a profile name, so you were able to choose any you like 🙂

Ok but I’m planning to share my music on there soon, so how will people find me because I’m not about to make them type in my email or that username spotify created for me?

In the beginning, they can only find you via your profile link or username. 

Later on, once you gained a few followers, they should be able to find you by entering your display name into their Search field.
