Using Spotify with DENON AV Receivers

Using Spotify with DENON AV Receivers

I notice that speaker technology seems to be moving rapidly in the direction of wireless streaming. Seems everyone will soon be trading their expensive stereo and surround sound technology for streaming apps and wireless integration.

But I am so over trying to keep up with the latest, coolest and must have culture and would like to resist.

I have and very happy with an older AVR-4310 DENON Receiver which handles and reproduces all all my audio visual needs seamlessly via a ORB 5.1 surround system

I have found and read some relevant documentation but found it wanting.

Can anyone explains if not in specific terms, in generally terms, what is involved in streaming via a home stereo (AV) system.. More specifically it is more difccult to see which Denon AV Receivers are compatible t be used with Spotify in the Australian market place i.e. not Europe or US. The models listed seem I think, to be relatively old. Has the list been updated recently?

PS. will any networked enabled AVR work with Spotify Premium Connect?

While it remains available I threw caution to the wind I decided to take up the 3 month premium subscription for 99 cents just to find out whether I could use Spotify Connect with my slightly older Denon but highly feautured and network enabled 4310 AV Receiver.

Unless I am doing or have understood sometime incorrectly. Seems this network enabled receiver is not a compatible SPOTIFY  CONNECT device.

Just goes to show; never throw caution to the wind on a whim and trust your instincts. Oh well, only 99 cents. But can any staff tell me whether the 3 month subscription will expire immediately or in 3 months if I cancel now?

I can understand your frustration. I recently purchased a Denon AVR-700w that features Spotify on the reciever. I was able to connect directly to AVR via my iPad. I updated my Spotify app, and now Im being told I haft to pay for a premium subscription in order to get this feature back. I contact customer support and they just keep telling me to re install the app... as if that would fix my issue! Im so pissed of that now Im looking into escalating the matter myself. I contacted Denon support who say they had no knowledge of  this! They pulled a fast one the consumer. Im not paying $10 a mont for a feature I already had with the older versions of Spotify. They purposly downgraded my AVR device in order to extort money from the consumer, and refuse to even give an explanation after repeated attempts to resolve this matter. The main reason for purchasing the AVR device was that it had Spotify as a main feature. Im contacting consumer affairs if the matter cannot be clarified.... This is just wrong in so many ways!!!!!!!
