Very basic 'planning to upgrade' questions

Solved!

Very basic 'planning to upgrade' questions

I have Spotify on my desktop, my tablet, and my phone. Each is under a different name/password… Each has different playlists…

Q1)     When I upgrade will I be forced to use only one username?

Q2)     What happens when I have Spotify running on one machine (say, my home desktop) and I start it on my phone and then remotely  (at the office) on my tablet?  If I change a song on any of these machines does it automatically change what is being played on the other two machines or do they just continue in their merry way.

The reason I have three accounts is more due to laziness than anything else.
I'll be entirely happy with one premium account and understand that's the
fair way to structure premium accounts.

By the way, the tablet interface doesn't seem to have any way to get to my
user name, etc. On the Desktop it's in the top right corner, on the tablet
it's nowhere to be seen. How do I access it?

Based on your reply I looked up Spotify Connect. I don't get it.

- If, under a single premium membership, I have AlbumX playing on my
desktop.

- And I go somewhere and start playing Spotify on my tablet will I
automatically hear AlbumX?

- If I want to change what I am listening to on the tablet to AlbumY, can I
just navigate to AlbumY and play it? (If the answer is "yes", what happens
on Spotify running on the desktop. Does it continue to play AlbumX or does
it start playing AlbumY)

- And how does Spotify Connect fit in to all this?

Thanks

Hello @JR13

1. Yes, if you have different accounts and you plan to upgrade one account, if you want Premium status throughout all your devices (with different accounts), you must log out and log in to your Premium account.

2. Unfortunately, they will be changed in their merrily way, except if your Phone is on Offline Mode, which then your home and your phone will not synchronise.

If you want your playlists transferred to your main premium account, you can try all solutions from this thread - https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Desktop-Linux-Windows-Web/How-do-I-transfer-playlists-from-an-...

Hope I've helped you.

What's a Spotify Rock Star, and how do I become one?
I'm not a Spotify official! Just here to help!

I did plan to answer this, but another Community member did it better and I think they much more knowledgeable than me. Best of luck upgrading, and I'm on hand to help with a bunch of other Community members as and when you need it. 🙂

Starting out but ready to make a difference 🙂
