WTH where is my privacy

WTH where is my privacy

I just noticed yesterday that all my playlist gets automatically published as public.

I had to install this stupid spottify "Client Software" (just used it und PS and iOS till now) to mark all (each by one #wth!) as private and change all my profile preferences for activities to private to.

Gues what - still all playlists are public. Even if I delete a playlist - it is untouched avaible for other users (even not logged in persons with a private browser session - not a cookie bug though). I tried to mark playlists as public and then privat agein (on-and-off-again-defaultfix) but that doesnt help either.

Does anyone have a clue to fix my privacy? 😞

Otherwise I am kinda forced to delete this spotify again and stay with apple music or so... A service who cares about a private music experience.

Hey @JustAUser_uniqu.

Thanks for getting in touch!

There is a setting in Spotify where you can choose to create all new playlists set automatically to private.

Keep in mind that when toggling between private and public, the changes won't take immediate effect. It can take up to a day and you might need to log out and back in to see that the playlist is indeed visible/not visible on your profile.

Should do the trick! Let us know if you have further questions.

Have a nice day.

Well it has been a "work week" now. If I change a name of a playlist it takes immediate effect.

Texted to support but they seem to be a bit overwhelmed.

Hey @JustAUser_uniqu,

We suggest that you keep being in touch with the support team since there might be something with your account and they'll be able to have a closer look.

Let us know if there's anything else.

"There is a setting in Spotify where you can choose to create all new playlists set automatically to private."  Where is this setting & how can I check what others can see about my activity, profile etc..?

The settings are here:

For me this is what I know on the issue as it's the only way to clean up those playlists that end up on public searches and follows.

The only current way to delete a playlist to an extent is to open the playlist on desktop player:

1- delete all the tracks from the playlist (make sure you also delete hidden tracks that are unavalible)

2- Delete the description completely

3- Replace title with a "-" (replace title with hyphen "-")

4- Remove custom artwork.

5- Make sure the playlist is set to "private"

6- Then delete the playlist.

You have to do this with every single playlist even the ones that are already delete. You will have to recover them and then follow all the above steps. It's also a good rule to do this if you plan on closing your account as all the playlists will remain. Also playlist that are set to private and are in the recover playlist folder somehow show up in google searches and privacy settings change even thought the playlist has been deleted, this is garbage.
