What happens if you aren't able to log in after 30 days - Offline mode?

What happens if you aren't able to log in after 30 days - Offline mode?

Hi!

I'm going to go out sailing and I need music to listen to. I'm planning to upgrade to premium and use offline playlists, but as I have understood it, I have to log-in every 30 days to like re-new it? Sometimes I will be without Internet connection for more than that, maybe 40-50 days.

So, after 30 days it won't work anymore? What happens is I re-new it after 40 days, will I loose everything that I downloaded to the offline playlist then, or is it ok to re-new it after more than 30 days?

It's useless for me to put time into making offline playlists and then they'll all disappear, I won't be able to re-make them.

Hope you understand my question,

Jonas

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂

On Spotify premium if you fail to go online in the 30 day window, your offline content will be removed from your device. Your actual playlist data (eg all the tracks) will still be saved by Spotify, but you won't be able to listen to any of that offline content after the 30 days and once you go online again, you will need to redownload all of the tracks.

All right, I get i.

But I will be at sea and won't be able to conncect to Internet unfortunately. But what if make sure my brother log on to my account from back home every 30 days? Will that work or do I have to log on from my own device?

Thanks for your help,

Jonas

It has to be on your device I'm afraid. The application has a built in timer meaning it needs to connect at least once every 30 days so it knows your premium subscription is still active. If it did not have that check, there would be nothing to stop you downloading 3,333 tracks (the maximum allowed per device) then cancelling your subscription and keeping those tracks forever.
