iPhone app: an error occurred - TRY AGAIN

iPhone app: an error occurred - TRY AGAIN

Just signed up for a premium account.  My login works fine on my computer, but I can't login from the iPhone app.  A search of this forum shows many people with the same complaint (going back several years) but no solution.  What is the issue here?

Hello @Ninja_nerd,

 

Just making sure did you try both your email and username? Also did you try reinstalling the app this may update it? This is a weird problem. Can you sign in on other devices or the web player? Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I uninstalled the app and reinstalled with the same result.  I would try the username instead of my e-mail, but it's a 25 character random string with no ability to copy/paste it.  Why on earth would I need to use that to login??

 

I can log into the Spotify web site and check my account details, etc. so I know that my e-mail and password combination works, but no joy with the IOS app on any of my Apple devices.  I see that many others in the Community have also had this exact same issue.

Okay I did find this one link that might help you: https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/I-can-t-log-onto-my-spotify-iPhone-app/td-p/894951. The solution they have is to enter the username unfortunately. I would try this and see if this works. You could email your username to yourself and copy and paste it on your phone. Hope this helps. Same result.  It appears that I am actually logged into the app because if I click on Your Library, then on the little gear icon, I can see my account info, notifications, etc.  But if I click on Home, Browse, Search or Radio, it says An error occurred TRY AGAIN.

 

Does Spotify have an actual tech support department or chat feature or is it entirely supported through active users like yourself?
