problem logging in with a ipod 2gen (iOS 4.2) and old spotify app

Solved!

problem logging in with a ipod 2gen (iOS 4.2) and old spotify app

Hi guys!

I've found an old ipod 2gen in my house and i want to use it like an unlimited song library connected to my sound system.

I've installed the spotify app (of course not the last one, but the one that the apple store suggested me), and after the login i'm stuck at "discover great music with your friend" page. I've tried waiting a lot of time, use my facebook, create a new spotify account, reset the device but nothing changed.

Is the same problem as this user (infact the screen is his): https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-iOS-iPhone-iPad/Problem-with-old-iPHONE/td-p/1155575

What could i do?

thank you!

Hi @ipodusers in order to receive support and the latest Spotify features on iOS devices you’ll need to have a device that supports iOS 7 or higher. For more information about Spotify’s System Requirements just click here.

Hey there @ipodusers, welcome to the community!

Are you able to update to a more recent Spotify version?

I'm going to ask the team to see if your iPod is even supported anymore.

Hey there @ipodusers!

One quick question, what's the Spotify version that you are able to download? I have someone looking into this right now.

i don't know really because i can't open the app. there is another way to discover it?

i went to the app store, search for spotify and automatically a window appeared telling me that with my os i can't use the lastest software from spotify, but if i wanted i could download the last working app, so i did!

what a bad news!

i think that a lot of people is in my same situation, and maybe if we find a solution this will help a lot of other old iphone/ipod owners!

ATTENTION: I HAVE SOLVED THE ISSUE
I too was running an old IOS for the same reason and just spent an hour trying to get around that annoying Facebook issue. Go to Spotify.com on your computer or phone etc and link your account to a Facebook account that way. Now when you go to log into your old device, login using Facebook. It skips the find music with friends screen and works perfectly! If you do not have a Facebook simply set up a fake one for free very quickly.
