2 Issues On Tablet: Landscape Mode For Lyrics Is Not Available + Player Disappears

My Question or Issue

Since a couple weeks, I'm having 2 troubles on the Spotify app on my Galaxy Tab S8 tablet. Those are still not fixed on the app version 8.8.34.429.

At first, lyrics mode is now not available in landscape. When I want to view full lyrics, tablet turns to portrait mode.

Second, player disappear when I go back to home

I have a small issue regarding Spotify mobile on my Tab S9 FE. 

When I open the queue, it my screen rotates to portrait, so I have to pick up my tablet and rotate it every time I want to adjust the queue. Even after I close the queue, it still stays in portrait until I tilt my tablet again. This is kind of annoying, since I'm using my tablet in landscape mode 99% of the time. However, the rest of the app runs fine landscape mode.

Hello. I'm having the same issue with you on the same device and it happens on lyrics screen too.

the stupid thing is in dex mode it doesn't even rotate. It's really frustrating using spotify like this because i always keep open my queue screen to see what coming next. It's a new device compared to other tablets so it might not be optimized yet.

I'm Motorola user and it's have ready for feature, I use it to connect my phone to my tv and it's simply stretch application or use table or web form of an application I don't know completely but it done the job of showing lyrics as it do on any other android phone but in landscape mode and ui is still good than tv version of Spotify, seriously just use web app ui for tv app and please do bring layrics and queue in the landscape mode for tablets.

This is really, really bad. I have Carlinkit TBOX that always displays in landscape mode, so no lyrics. There's literally no way to put it in portrait (OK, I guess I could maybe drive up on two wheels and tip the car on it's side?).

OK, I figured it out, but it's insanely stupid on Spotify's part.

Spotify only supports bringing up lyrics in portrait mode, which is to say any time the application's displayed width is smaller than the height. On the TBox you can accomplish this by running some other app (I used Google maps) and running Spotify and the other application in side-by-side mode. Once you do this, Spotify will start showing the lyrics screen at the bottom of the (now portrait) Spotify display while you're playing a song, and you can click the full-screen button on the lyrics to have them fill Spotify's portion of the screen. The extra dumb thing is that if you now slide the divider between the two apps so Spotify has the entirety of the display, the lyrics still work fine; but the minute you close the lyrics screen to go back to your song you can't get the lyrics screen back unless you go through the whole side-by-side thing. In other words, lyrics works in landscape mode, but there's just nothing in the landscape UI that lets you get there.

Minor update: It's the exact same for the now playing queue: there's literally no way to access it from landscape mode, but if you go into portrait mode first by narrowing the Spotify's screen space (e.g. running in side-by-side modem with another app), you can access the now playing queue icon; and once the now-playing queue is visible, you can widen the screen to landscape mode and the queue stays visible.

I was having the same issue about the landscape mode. Samsung tablet devices has a feature that solves that. You can go to

settings>>Advanced features>>Labs>>Landscape view for portrait apps

and you can choose the app you wanna keep at landscape view.

Doesn't work across any of my 5 android devices - all different with different versions of android - really suck when tablets have landscape prop covers - why are you not fixing this Spotify, it's so basic

like i said on another post samsung tablets has a feature does that. Other than that i can recommend using apps to force landscape mod. I just searched on play store and find this app called Screean Orientation control and it looks like you can set it for specific apps. Might work for your android tablets.my app recommendation

C'mon guys, YT Music already have this feature and it works fine. For me it's one of the main reasons to use YT Music on tablet and not spotify.

While the Tablet Orientation is set to landscape, it doesn't allow me to scroll down for lyrics, about the artist, related videos, etc. but when in potrait mode, it works perfectly fine. Landscape mode is more suitable for me since I have a 10.11inch screen and I would love this bug to be get fixed. Screenshots are attached for better understanding. Thank You

I'm having this exact issue, except for one little thing: weeks ago it used to work just fine!!

I could see the lyrics, videos, artist's info etc. from landscape mode and had no problems. But now it disappeared.

Now this only happens when I choose the song, bc if I use the DJ the lyrics show as "normal" on landscape mode. How do I fix it?? This is such a downgrade!!

Why was I able to view lyrics normally on my Samsung Tablet S8+ for 3 years but now all of a sudden Spotify wants to take my ability to sing the lyrics while studying??? Like what even is the point of this?  This is a paid service, all I want is to see the lyrics of the songs I am hearing while it is on landscape!!

This is a non-issue! It worked fine for 3 years, now it gets downgraded, what the **bleep** is the point of this.
