My Question or Issue

Since a couple weeks, I'm having 2 troubles on the Spotify app on my Galaxy Tab S8 tablet. Those are still not fixed on the app version 8.8.34.429.

At first, lyrics mode is now not available in landscape. When I want to view full lyrics, tablet turns to portrait mode.

Second, player disappear when I go back to home

I have Spotify Premium and it's not expired yet. The problem is that I suddenly can't view lyrics on my tablet despite being able to do it previously. Until now the button is still missing. Although on my phone everything is fine. FYI, I have Samsung Tab S8+. Please fix this. Look in the picture, there is no option for lyrics.

No fix for this? This sucks, I wanted to used my tablet in my office while I work to display the lyrics.

No support for landscape is the worst excuse I've heard so far.

Using Spotify in my car with android head unit that works only in landscape mode. Lack of lyrics support makes it almost useless for using it, so strange "expected behavior" tbh

Same here my device ( Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE ) have the same issue as you stated . I can't find any solution than can clear up this issue. I have tried log out, reinstall but still does not work at all. Can anyone perhaps came out withe solution ?

When playing music in full screen in landscape, Spotify acts the same as it would in Chromecast just showing basic info. But in portrait I get all the lyrics and artist info and stuff. Why not just implement it in Landscape as well? Please offer the same features set in either rotation.

I have android player on my car, which is in landscape view all the time. Spotify used to be able to show lyrics by sliding it upward. now it is no longer there. please restore the feature back

On my years old tablet I had lyrics in landscape mode, but now on my Samsung Tab S9, landscape mode Spotify is just a widely stretched version of the portrait layout. I guess Spotify developers are unable to provide basic functionality for their own features...?

"Landscape mode is not supported" is a poor cop-out FYI, Novy and the content moderation team. 

Reflowing the app's arrangement when it's in landscape (a very common tablet layout) is a no brainer.

How is this still a thing in 2025?

The fact of the matter is that you can switch to portrait, activate lyrics, then rotate back to landscape and have lyrics until the song changes. The official response being "we don't support it" doesn't fly either because previous versions had it working and even current versions still have the actual functionality.

The fact that spotify is willing to turn away users for something as small as this is baffling.

I understand that this might be the 'current intended behavior', but I think landscape support would be more valuable:

1. It used to work earlier, so the feature was supported before — this makes it feel like either something changed intentionally or it is an actual bug that you keep ignoring.

2. If I open it in portrait mode, make it fullscreen, and then switch to landscape, the lyrics stays there. However, doing this every time a new song starts is annoying.

3. On tablets, landscape mode often makes more sense for reading lyrics, especially when the device is placed on a desk. Portrait mode in such cases is less practical.

4. Again I understand this is the intended behaviour for now, but can you change it back? Would it be possible to bring back landscape support? Since it was already available before, it probably wouldn't require major development efforts. I believe it would significantly improve the user experience for many of us.

Gonna switch to Apple music if this isn't resolved by the end of the year
