Like I said on the title of this post, a few days ago I wanted to try the "private session" functionality on the android app. It's doesn't work that well compared to the iOS version. The thing is when I deactivated it, the android app stopped sending the songs I listen to Facebook. I tried loggin out from within the app, I deleted spotify from the Facebook application list, I logged in again. Didn't work. Then I had to uninstall the app from my phone in order to reinstall it again and see if that solved the issue, but no. Nothing changed. Maybe it's worth noting that I have no problem whatsoever with last.fm. Also, I use the iOS version on my iPod touch and the private session works flawlessly. But my main device it's my android phone (i have a Samsung Galaxy S3) and this frustrates me a little 'cause I can't solve it. Any kind of help is welcome. Thank you.
I don't know if this is helpful or not -- especially since our issues are focused on the Android app, but on occasion I will use the Spotify web player, and I've noticed that it ALSO does not post my song lists to FB.
It seems to scrobble to Last.fm fine, but that's all. Basically the same issue I'm having with the android app.
I've checked all the settings on the web player, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Is there an example you can provide of how our facebook app settings are supposed to look?
I do think there's an issue with the Android app, but the fact that the web player won't post songs suggest that there might also be something wrong with my Facebook settings as well. Perhaps it's a combination of symptoms causing the issue?
Hi. I think iOS users are having issues too so it may be something on the servers. Time will tell 🙂
Just curious -- where did this menu go?
Back a few facebook design changes ago, whenever I had a problem with song list posting details, this is where I would go to fix things. Does this not exist anymore -- or if it does, is there an easy way to get to it?
(this isn't from my FB, btw -- I google image searched it)
I guess one of the really frustrating things about this problem for me (and I bet for you guys too) is that it only seems to be affecting a small group. I know others with Spotify android apps who seem to have no problems at all in this regard, and regularly post their music lists without trouble..
It's what makes me think I fouled up a setting somewhere that I keep trying to find and fix (unsuccessfully), which is really frustraring.
Would it be possible to post examples of what a correctly functioning FB/android app settings page looks like so I could have something to compare mine to?
Thanks.
I really think it's a problem on Spotify's side, possibly a server issue. I've installed two updates and still continue to have this inconvenience.
No, there is absolutely NOTHING to do with private session, update was which made this feature broken!
Exactly when do you plan on having a fix for this problem??? Your advertisement clearly states that the app posts songs to Facebook, yet it no longer does. Just 10 days ago Spotify comes out with another update and does not address the posting issue?? WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG????? Change the code so it is the same as it was prior to your 10/14 release!! Seriously, the issue is not going away and it is clearly a problem!
The users did NOTHING to create the posting problem. It started immediately after the new release on 10/14. Whatever you were doing on that day or the day after was not the cause. This is a programming error. It has not been fixed in 4 weeks. A new mobile version gets released a week or so ago that says it's "prettier". But why didn't they fix this issue we are all griping about? I'm tired of seeing a link to this thread with telling us to follow it. I'm tired of following this thread and seeing the issue with no resolve. This is false advertising for Android users. Spotify does not post on Facebook when using the mobile app, and I would guess that the mobile app is what the majority of us use.
Hi guys. I've asked the staff for an update on this.
Look, to me this issue started after using the private session. I didn't update the app between that period of time. I tried that function and then I wanted to go back. That's when I noticed the songs didn't appear anymore on my facebook profile. All the tracks I listened earlier that day before I did this, were there.
I'm not saying this is users fault. I'm saying that private session activation/deactivation is what triggered this bug.
I've been told that this is the thread to post/watch about this topic -- I think the issues I'm having are all related, so I want to give as much information as possible here.
I noticed today, ALL my Spotify programs (mobile app, and both desktop programs) keep resetting my "Starred" playlist to be private. I have "Automatically make new playlists public" checked, and "Make my Top Tracks playlist public" checked, although neither of those settings should matter. I've repeatedly clicked "Make public" and "Publish" but every time the app closes, it resets Starred to be private. It also seems to be resetting other playlists to be private, as well -- specifically collaborative ones (Yes, I'm sure no one else made it private) and ones available offline. I know it used to make playlists private when I was listening in private mode, and I understand why, but I haven't been in private mode in a long time and it's still doing it.
Also, both desktop versions today told me I had the incorrect password, made me log out and back in, and then when I logged back in (with the same exact log in and password as always, by the way) they both said offline mode access had been revoked, and all my downloaded songs were un-downloaded. But then, the previously downloaded playlists started downloading songs again. No clue what's going on; wish someone could/would figure it out and fix it or tell me how to.
Exactly the same problem here. Galaxy S2, Desktop version posting to facebook works just fine, only the mobile app stopped doing it a few weeks ago. I've read and tried everything, nothing works.
Solving this would be very appreciated.
This problem has been going on for a month now and STILL no answers. What. The. Hell.
This issue started for me around October 7th I think. I'm using an HTC one. When I listen to music on my computer, it shows up on my news feed as normal, but when I listen to music on my phone it doesn't. This is stupid, it's one of my favorite features of spotify. I might cancel my subscription if it continues to not work.
