Android App says no internet connection available while on t-mobile

Android App says no internet connection available while on t-mobile

Hello!

Wanted to post here since so far i've been unable to find anything else online to see if anyone is having the same issues i'm experiencing. I noticed today that i'm unable to get a connection on the spotify app. Here's some info:

Phone: HTC One M8

Android Version: 4.4.4

Spotify Version: 1.5.0.739

APN: fast.t-mobile.com

Attempts to log out and log back in are unsuccessful as when i try to login, it says that there's no internet connectiona available. I've tried resetting the cache and rebooting the phone, i've tried a restart of the device and that didn't resolve the issue either.

The only thing i know of that's changed recently is my M8 received the KitKat 4.4.4 update. If i connect to wi-fi then i'm able to stream music just fine no problem, it's whenever i try to do it over cell is where I run into problems.

Has anyone else on T-Mobile been having any issues as of late with streaming anything on Spotify?

I'm pretty sure you can set your IPv4 APN as a default. Mine switches back as well, but every few hours, instead of seconds.

I have noticed every time I close Spotify then try to go back in I have to change it back to Ipv4 to get it to work again. Kind of annoying buy working. I'm using a HTC M8. It will let you change the APN.

*but not buy

Like I said I have already addressed this T-Mobile & HTC. My default APN is locked, neither of the two companies were able to unlock so I could edit. The top APN (attached image) is the new one I created but it's useless because after I activate it, it chages back to the default after a few seconds. Spotify has told me they are aware of the issue and will have an update with a fix but won't be available right away, maybe a few weeks.

Glad to hear it is getting fixed! I get that same screen. From that screen though if you go to the top corner with the 3 dots across from APN. Hit new APN . Scroll down to APN protocol and you can change it from there.

Yeah that top one that says T-Mobile is the new one I created, it just won't stay activated. It will switch back to the second APN on the list which is the default. I also heard it's not happening to all T-Mobile customers so not sure what the deal is with that issue. Just hope the fix doesn't take too long, I use the app daily.

I've been having the same issues. I've tried all the recommended fixes and nothing works. I'm just hoping that Spotify will catch on and update the app so that it works again. I have the same phone as you and noticed the issues after a recent over the air update as well.

Thanks a million for this fix. My wife and I both have the HTC One M8 and were experiencing identical issues with Spotify Premium. Creating a new APN with IPv4/IPv6 enabled did the trick. 2 questions... Why doesn't T-Mobile support know this and when will Spotify support IPv6?

Someone mentioned on here that they have spoken to HTC and T-Mobile. I guess HTC is working on a fix but may take a few weeks. Since so many complaints have been coming in.

No both HTC and T-Mobile are putting all the resposibility on Spotify and Spotify tech support said they will be coming out with a fix. I guess it makes sense since Spotify is the only app that stopped working, at least on my phone. Everything else is still working correctly.

Oh good! As long as someone is on it. ๐Ÿ™‚ For me it has only been Spotify as well.

I posted this in another thread but I'll post it again to get the word out. I think I may have solved this problem once and for all, ive been lurking these threads hoping for an answer and I think I may have it... I hope it solves the problem across the board, even if it only helps a few I'll still be satisfied. Check your settings to make sure background data IS enabled. In the gs5 that setting will be in the battery saving settings, and gs3, if I remember correctly is in sync settings. I think what the app does when initially opened, runs the data in the foreground, but in order to keep playing music while the screen locks it has to switch to using data in the background, which is why some people will have issues getting the next song to play, because that first song had already loaded by the time it switched to background. And I think where the problem gets worse is that once you unlock the screen the spotify app MAY or may NOT switch back to running data in the foreground in my experience its totally random, possibly a design flaw. So, atleast for me, allowing background data allowed spotify to run as it was designed to. Let me know if this works for anyone.

This also might explain the switches between ipv4 and 6 that people seem to be describing, possibly one is used during background data and the other for foreground?

Please let me know if this works for you, if it dies I'll post my comment in all threads related to this

I'll give it a try! Trying to find where that is in my phone (M8).

Can't get it to work with my htc one m8 either. Just installed, cleared cache and reinstalled. When I open the app and try to log on, says i have no internet connection and I have 4g LTE. Every other app is working fine.

Yeah. It's been an issue since the last over the air update for the os. I don't understand why Spotify hasn't fixed this yet when it seems to be affecting a lot of people. Super frustrating.

Just copy exactly everything about it and create a new apn with the same name and just change the APN protocol to IPV4 and APN roaming protocol to IPV4/IPV6

Just to let you guys know I have an m8 and was having the same issues. Uninstalled, Reset the apn to default like someone said, and reinstalled. Seems to be working fine no issues skipping between songs after an hour. The apn does say it's switched back to the ipv6 one but it doesn't seem to be an issue. Although I'm scared to close Spotify lol

I'm looking at legal options. This is ridiculous.no response from anyone, leaving customers in the dark. I've had it.
