Android auto shortcuts are just "recent" items.

Android auto shortcuts are just "recent" items.

It used to be that Spotify would show things like Daily Mixes and Disclver Weekly in Android Auto. Now it only shows recent items in the "shortcut" section. This really prohibits my enjoyment in the car as it sorta inhibits me from listening to anything new or fresh. What happened?

At Spotify, we’re always looking for opportunities to enhance the listening experience for both fans and creators. We routinely conduct a number of tests, and some of them may ultimately end up paving the way for our broader user experience.

 

Can you let us know if this "shortcut section" you mentioned is on Home screen? If you don't see your Daily Mixes or Discover Weekly there, can you try adding them to Your Library and checking if they're accessible from there? In case you encounter any issues along the way, it'd be great if you can send us a screenshot or a screen recording of what you see on your end so we can have a closer look. If the file is too large to attach, you can upload it to Google Drive (make sure to allow general access to the file) or as an unlisted YouTube video

Hi @Dessi, thanks for your quick response!

It is indeed on the Home screen of Spotify when running through Android Auto. "Shortcuts" is the top section of the page, whereas further down there are sections like "Recommended Episodes" and "Recent Activity." (The "Shortcuts" section is basically just showing me the same tiles as "Recent Activity."

 

I've also tried clearing the cache and data on the app on my phone.

Again, I was previously, at some point, able to see Discover Weekly and Daily Mixes as fixtures on the Home screen in Android Auto. Any help would be appreciated!

We had a look and will forward this to the appropriate team so they can investigate, however, we're not able to give you a timeline for when or if this is going to be fixed/changed. In the meantime, we recommend keeping the app up-to-date to ensure you're using the latest version of Spotify.
