Android downloading woes, having to click wifi off and on to access folders and playlists, etc

I have an android, and I like to download podcasts while I'm on wifi. My problem is that sometimes it goes great, and sometimes it kind of blocks at some percentage complete (right now it's been at 8% since last night) and then I can be on wifi for hours and it never moves.

Also, I'm constantly having to turn my wifi off and on to get access to things on Spotify. Like it will not start a dowloaded podcast sometimes (not always! It's infuriating how inconsistent it is!) if I don't turn the wifi off. This happens on multiple wifi locations.

In addition, even when I'm on wifi, sometimes if i want to get into 'new episodes' or even any folder whatsoever, it will just endlessly circle until I turn the wifi off and on. Aaaurgh. I've reset all my wifi settings, cleared cache, uninstalled/reinstalled, turn phone off/on, etc, but still no luck. I would like to like Spotify, but my phone is making that very difficult.

Any ideas before I delete this app?

As a first step, we'd suggest heading to your phone's setting (Settings - Apps - Spotify) and making sure that the app has access to both mobile and Wi-Fi data and is set as an exception in any battery or memory optimizing services. If that doesn't do the trick, try running a Clean reinstall (a more thorough one than the regular) as described in this guide.
