My Question or Issue

When connecting Spotify to a speaker with built-in "Spotify Connect" and built-in "Chromecast" you can switch between these two modes". When using "Chromecast" the volumesteps are "+1" or "-1" when hitting the volume-buttons. When using "Spotify Connect" the steps vary from 2-3 each time when you hit the buttons wich are much to big and the volume tends to be too highh or too low.

Yes, I did a clean install, cleared all caches, restarted router, phone, speaker.

In the meantime you can manually drag the volume bar in the Spotify app (bottom of speaker selection area). Very hard to get right mind you.

Right, that's no solution you never get the desired volume with this tiny bar. I use Google Home which has a "knob". It works better, but is also no solution as you have to use a third party app for such a basic thing. Other apps who stream to my soundbar have no problem at all with the volume steps....

Same here, when I'm casting music to AudioPro A38 even lowest volume is way to loud which is really anoying... YoutubeMusic doesn't have such issue!

I have the same problem with my Paradigm PW and my Marantz.. my Yamaha MusicCast workshop fine with small steps.

The thing that makes me feel like it’s on Spotify’s side is that Tidal always has small steps on every device.

So my repost got deleted apparently and this topic here is still marked as resolved. Great work ethics guys...

Still a problem. Denon PMA-900. Slider works by one so it shows the protocol can control it with enough resolution but +- buttons will rip your ears off.

come on, that’s purely a frontend issue.

That‘s this caliber of a bug. Is Spotify interviewing?

Still a problem using denon home speakers 🥲🥲🥲

Loooool 🙃🙃🙃

2 years.. unbelievable...  devs are working on thus solutuon... hahaha.. yeah... tell this fairy tale to somebody else. They simply don't want to fix this problem. because some smart head there by spotify think it's not important... on the other side serious amount of users losing patiance ...

We have no problem when controlling the volume via our Android phones when playing Spotify via Chromecast Audio / Google Home on external speakers. Using the phone's up/down volume buttons, the speaker volume decreases/increases gradually as expected.

We also regularly "cast" Spotify to our NR1200 Marantz amplifier, which in turn powers a set of high-end B&W floor speakers. We noticed before that controlling the volume via the Spotify app on our phones is not ideal for this setup since the volume decreases/increases in VERY VERY VERY large steps (e.g., 6db per click). To avoid this issue we generally use the amp remote (not a great solution) but yesterday I accidentally pressed down the volume up button on my phone which maxed out the speakers within one or two seconds and my wife was in the room when it happened. Her ears have been ringing since then and I would appreciate it if you could provide me with a solution on how to limit the volume steps in the app.

This simply can't happen again (both for the sake of my wife's hearing as well as our sound system) and it is shocking to me why it would even be possible in the first place. The volume steps are WAY too large and I can't think of one good reason why anybody would want that. Thank you!

My Question or Issue

see above

same issue using my denon heos system, accidentally using the spotify volume rocker can lead to angry neighbours, startled spouses and scareds pets. please fix!

This, or a very similar issue, has been happening to me for months: all I am trying to do is to turn the volume up or down on my Spotify connected Echo devices and - randomly - the volume will leap to deafening or silent and prove impossible to adjust further. I'm using an Android phone and both it and the app are fully up to date.

This really needs investigating/fixing - sudden full volume music is obviously unacceptable for so many reasons. To see that Spotify have had volume control issues for two years is a disgrace. Please fix urgently.

I have the same issue with an EVRRSOLO DMP-A6. Ridiculous. I've just tried Tidal, and volume steps are just perfect. Please fix this.

Having the same issue. Just got new Denon X1700h planning to use it for Spotify listening for majority of the time and got this terrible surprise. Please address this Spotify!

Holy Moly how long to fix this? Unbearable for me streaming to a Wiim Pro - totally random volume steps but never subtle enough for my needs.

Same issue, incredibly annoying that this issue still isn’t fixed

I have similar on StreamMagic - Cambridge Audio EVO75. Volume increases for 6 steps / units

Hi Oscar,

Is there any update on this issue? I can only echo the frustration of the other users in this thread.

Same issue on KEF LS50 wireless II. All other services either follow settings in speakers or do +/-1 increments 🤔
