My Question or Issue
Since like a week or so, the app draws at least 3x as much battery as it did before.
It really empties it out like crazy, and even android battery settings report Spotify as the worst offender, even when it's constantly in background.
I wonder what's going on in the background...
Hey there @Kaleidox,
Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.
Could you let us know which troubleshooting steps you've already tried? That way we can avoid repeating any steps. If you haven't tried performing a clean reinstall of the app yet, we recommend that you give that a go by following these steps.
Also, is this happening when you're streaming or with your downloaded content as well?
If nothing changes, would you mind sending us a short screen recording of the issue happening so we can take a closer look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
I did a full and clean reinstall
I have everything downloaded, there is no reason for the app to drain 20% over 6h background playback.
Also, How exactly am I gonna record that??
Hi @Kaleidox,
Thanks for your reply!
We've passed this on to our tech folks for further investigation, but we're unable to provide an ETA for a fix at the moment. We’re regularly looking for opportunities to enhance the user experience for everyone, so your feedback on this is greatly appreciated.
In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates and a possible fix.
The Community is here if there's anything else you need assistance with.
Hope it's gonna be fixed rather sooner than later, because this is a real showstopper for me.
The stable Spotify app is causing extreme, unallowed background battery and data drain on my device. This issue persisted immediately after a clean install of the stable app (version 9.0.90.1229), proving the flaw is in the core code on my system.
Technical Details:
Device: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (512GB)
Operating System: Android 16 (One UI 8), latest security patch (October 2025).
Spotify App Version (Stable): 9.0.90.1229
Troubleshooting Tried: Background usage restricted, "Offline Access" not allowed, no downloads running—issue persists immediately upon installation.
Request: Please investigate and hotfix this severe, stable-version bug affecting the S24 Ultra immediately , because it is not professional to ruin my device and drain my data . I'm not paying the premium to destroy my phone , I just wanna listen to some music in peace already...
