App starts up always downloading songs, gets stuck, and Spotify stops responding for minutes.

My Question or Issue

Starting Spotify always sees it downloading 10 or 20 songs, and this causes the app to become laggy, nonplaying and generally hanging.

How can we preempt this random downloading? Unknown songs.

The download button in your app might be toggled on. You can go here to see instructions on how to turn it off for your device.

Another thing, if it's downloading unknown songs, your account might been compromised. I suggest following the steps here.

About what you've experienced with Spotify starting and automatically downloading songs (which then results in the issues you reported), are there any updates on your end after following @引きこもり's suggestion?

Hi!

Yes I download the songs I want to deliberately.

But Spotify tries to refresh them cyclically?

I disabled downlad over cellular and the problem is reduced.

Why can't the app just refresh it all in one go when there's wifi?

The download dialog pops up but doesn't say what songs, so hijack seems less likely as i don't  see any new albums. Lol i got jacked couple of years ago, by some kid into latin pop...
