My Question or Issue
My app keeps refreshing to the homepage when I exit the application. It is incredibly frustrating to have to navigate back to my playlist or album again and again. I have already tried clearing my cache and uninstalling and reinstalling my application. Both my phone and Spotify app are up to date. This has been happening for at least two weeks.
Hey @CrystalZol,
Thanks for reaching out.
If this happens when you close the Spotify app, please know that this is expected behavior. However, if it happens when navigating away from it (switching to a different app or your phone's home screen), we'd suggest checking your phone's settings and making sure that Spotify is set as an exception in any battery- or memory-optimizing services.
We hope this helps.
This is happening to me as well. It happened after the last update.
Hey folks,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.
@CrystalZol, if you have tried the previous suggestion already, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.
Also, @Wimands could you confirm if you've tried the process mentioned by @MihailY and a clean reinstall as well?
Lastly, to continue investigating this, include in your next response the exact OS version and the Spotify version you're currently running.
We'll be on the lookout.
Has this been resolved? I have exactly the same problem on my S10+ since approx. 2 weeks and I have tried the basics with no success
Just chiming in to say that I'm having the exact same issue on Samsung Galaxy M51. Pretty frustrating to have to navigate every time I switch back to Spotify.
Hey folks,
In this case, it's best to reach out to Samsung Support for further steps on how to tweak your phone's settings and prevent this issue from happening.
Let us know how it goes.
I'm not sure how my phone software could have an effect here as I have not updated my software in a while and Spotify worked just fine until recently. Please do not be so quick to dismiss a real problem.
Here's a short screen recording showing exactly what happens even with battery optimization completely turned off for Spotify. I could not upload it here due to file size limitations. https://streamable.com/84an3v
This is happening to me as well on my Galaxy S23+. I've tried everything from giving it full permissions, turning RAM Plus all the way to the full 8GB, Putting Spotify into "never sleep" mode. And it consistently does the annoying refresh. And Spotify is the only app that exhibits this behavior. Everything from Facebook, yelp, YouTube, are all fine except spotify.
My Spotify continues to have this issue. As other people have stated I do not think this is on Samsungs side.
Edit: I just saw this was done on purpose. That's ridiculous to be now "expected behavior". I hope more of us complain to Spotify.
No. What he meant by saying expected behavior is when you actually close the app. Not the problems we are experiencing in regards to just simply minimizing Spotify or going to a different app. This is NOT normal expected behavior.
Somebody please get to the bottom of this. This is a pretty big problem to your customer base. I just tested it out using an iPhone 6s I have laying around and it did not exhibit this behavior.
I hope this gets fixed very soon, it's very annoying
