Hello, new to Spotify. Is there an option for the app to auto download new podcast episodes, as well as auto removing played episodes ?
Hey there folks,
We're happy to announce that our developers have worked their magic backstage and made this possible.
The frequency of removal of episodes can be adjusted from the cogwheel icon in "Your episodes".
Thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community!
In the Year of Our Lord 2022, Spotify STILL can't automatically download podcasts, for *absolutely no discernible reason*.
If a playlist I've marked to download gets different songs added or removed, it AUTOMATICALLY UPDATES. All we are asking is for podcasts to perform the same way. I'm already paying for ad-free premium so there is no additional money to make off me by streaming this content instead of having me download it.
I'm absolutely stunned that Spotify would waste so much money on podcast companies just to *critically handicap* their app by not offering the ONE feature every podcast app is BUILT on. And the suggested idea marked as "not right now". WHY are you handicapping your own app this way, forcing your audience to use literally any other app that has this BASIC functionality? Why is this blatant UX decision so damn *OBTUSE* to Spotify that they can't seem to even fathom why this is an essential UX flow for all podcasting? You clearly understand it's important as you have your "discover weekly" playlist automatically update, but you can't make the logical leap that podcasters - who have been asking you for this functionality for YEARS - would want the same?
The functionality to control when podcast episodes are removed from the Your Episodes playlist is now available on the apps, but I'm not seeing it available on the Mac desktop app...which is weird.
This is the single reason that I haven’t switched from google podcasts to Spotify for my podcasts even though I have a premium subscription
I will keep using Google Podcasts while this feature is not available in Spotify. It's really important to me as the podcasts are downloaded automatically when they are released. There's also a great option that allows download in wi-fi connection only.
I'm yet another user who won't switch to Spotify for podcast playback. Been a user of podcast addict and a premium Spotify user for years. Now looking at other providers to see if I get all the basic features and product integration I'm looking for to consolidate the number of apps / active subscriptions
Well, another year, another check-in to see if the most basic functionality of a podcast app, as understood by anyone that listens to podcasts for the past, oh… 20 years?! is still not a feature in Spotify.
What really gets my gist though is you’ve literally introduced podcast reaction pods *from the App*, making it not only a pod catcher but *also* a production facility, something that is undoubtably expensive as **bleep** to setup and maintain… and still can’t do this!!! Why?! Does no one at Spotify *listen* to podcasts?? Just let us add them to a playlist and auto download *exactly like we can already do with playlists*.
back to Stitcher for me, I guess.
Just adding to this as it's unbelievable this isn't available, after all these years. I'll continue using Pocketcasts for my podcasts.
I use castbox because you don't have this feature. The fact that the entire corporation has decided very publicly it cares more about paying podcasters and podcasts than music or paying musicians and its STILL not a feature is completely dumbfounding.
Please add this option. I do not listen to podcasts on spotify. Just on stitcher!! Cause it does this!
I have checked, and I see nothing to indicate that this issue has been fixed.
Hi hope you see this… could you update this thread to note that this is now “solved” as auto downloading podcast episodes is indeed a thing now?
On iOS here. Only option I have is “Mark as played”
This is what I see in the most recent update. To get this, you have to go to the settings for the podcast itself.
They must be testing it and not every has the feature yet.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
