Black screen on login screen after updating spotify

Solved!

Black screen on login screen after updating spotify

After the latest update from play store it gives me a black screen when I hit the login button. Then I have to hard reset the phone. I have the same problem with a lot of roms (cm11, miui, paranoidandroid, 4.1, 4.4.3) , that I used for my device (xperia s), but with no luck. It used to work before the update but now crashes my phone and can't use the app. Please fix because I'm paying for the app and can't use it for 2 weeks now from my phone. Maybe if you send me a latest beta of the app I can test it. This is the error log that I managed to grab:

Odd, first time I've seen this.... Have you done a clean (full wipe of system, data & cache) install of your ROM as it appears a google service is crashing. It appears theres some issue loading the right libs, this would be to do with the ROM you are using so I would suggest performing a clean install and if the problem persists then post in the relevant forum on xda as I can't see that this is an issue with Spotify.

The problem started when the spotify app said that I had to upgrade to spotify music. Before the update it worked flawlessly. I did full wipe, I installed other roms, I formatted sd-card and the problem still exists. Because the problem started after the update of spotify, I think it's spotify's problem. In xda whe have many users with the same problem. Spotify had a security issue, so maybe they changed something in login screen, security related. I'll try to find more information about my problem and contribute with a solution so spotify can go stronger! It's an amazing app, that's why I so worried about my problem!

Is there a possibility that I can join a beta program; Maybe in the latest beta the "black screen problem" is solved and I'll save some hours trying to figure out what the problem is. Thanks in advance and for your fast response

Have you tried uninstalling spotify then removing the SD card before redownloading and see if it launches successfully? Before listening to or downloading any music - pop your SD card back in.

can't do that because I don't have external sd. Only 32GB internal memory. But I tried to install app, format the memory and tried to open the app

Hmmm.......one last thing to try. Some folk have reported that the new installation didn't remove the old cache and support files which caused problems so try uninstalling spotify again (sorry) then use a file explorer to see if there are any spotify folders under \android\data\ and delete them.

Specifically, you're looking for two folders:

  1. com.spotify.android.ui (the old support folder)
  2. com.spotify.music  (the new suport folder but remove it anyway)

nope same crash happened

In that case, a factory reset and the stock ROM may be your only solution. You can get direct support here but they're not very keen on custom ROMs.

If you get an automated response directing you back to the community or to the help pages, please reply to it to speed things along.
