Abysmal. **bleep**ING ABYSMAL.

YET AGAIN Spotify releases an app that DOESN'T **bleep**ING WORK. Uninstalling the app and getting rid of my entire offline cache is NOT a solution. You know how long it takes to redownload circa 18gb of music? A **bleep**ING LONG TIME YOU USELESS BASTARDS.

Oh yeah, and just to rub salt in the wound, my music IS saved to my removable SD card, but of of course this glorious app decided FOR ITS SELF where to save to, meaning the newly installed app won't even recognise my existing cache.

**bleep** YOU AND YOUR **bleep**ING JOKE OF AN UNTESTED APP. ABSOLUTE **bleep**ING AMATEURS.

  • Your device: Galaxy Nexus GSM and Nexus 7 3G
  • Operating system: CyanogenMod 10.1 latest nightly build
  • Is your device rooted: 🙂
  • Custom ROM details if applicable: nothing special, stock CM kernel, no further customizations
  • Space left internal/SD/external SD: Galaxy Nexus: 7,38GB free, Nexus 7: 9,38GB free, both have only internal storage

Hey, I totally understand your frustration. Any chance of the information I mentioned in my earlier post? The more data we can give, themore likely it is that we'll get a fix. Thanks 🙂

Hey Joe,

Thanks for your response. I appreciate you don't work for Spotify, so my frustration is not aimed at you. However, I must respond to your request for more information as follows:

NO

NO, SPOTIFY. I am not your testing staff. I will not supply you with my system information. I will supply you with the following:

I pay a premium subscription to your service. This means I'm in the minority of people who use your service. Once again, you have released an app that turns my perfectly functional Spotify experience into one which simply doesn't work. WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Seriously? You added landscape, but took away my ENTIRE LIBRARY of offline music.

As my previous post said: LESS THAN USELESS.

I'm not your beta tester, I'm not a first adopter, I'm a guinea pig. I'm a PAYING customer.

Sort your **bleep**ing **bleep** out. It's not acceptable,

I would like to report that this behavior also happens on my Motorola Razr I.

After some older update i was forced to download my music again to this device which was more than annoying but at least the online mode worked.

This time i am only getting the blank screen as mentioned a few posts before.

Please desctripe what steps i could do to get my device back to work.

Please bring on a hot fix ASAP that i don't  need to download and organize my playlists on my device again.

Experiencing the same issue with the white screen and message to insert my SD card. SD card has been in there the whole time. I noticed that it stopped working right after the latest system update, but it looks like some users have been experiencing this for a while now.

Galaxy S3
Android 4.1.2
5gb free SD card
6gb free internal

Phone isn't rooted, no mods or anything, and I'm running the latest version of Spotify available from the Play Store (May 30)

I was having this issue on HTC desire HD running android 2.3.5.  Tried install etc.

Then tried logging in with my facebook rather than spotify details and it worked fine.

So I gave it another try. Deleted everything, reinstalled. No white screen. I synced for two days.

Started Spotify this morning, it crashed, again white screen. No way to make it usable again. 😕

Please fix this! There are no real workarounds since its definately a bug which needs fixing.

Same issue here. Done the whole delete everything routine 3 times. Same thing keeps occuring, blank screen.

Galaxy S2 - Latest updates, not rooted.

As mentioned previously I don't have this issue with the previous version. I uploaded it to my Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/b75k41l20o3og0b/com.spotify.mobile.android.ui-1.apk

It may be that it needs a fresh install but just feel free to try it out.

Hi guys. Can you please post the following information to help pinpoint things, thanks 🙂

  • Your device
  • Operating system
  • Is your device rooted
  • Custom ROM details if applicable
  • Space left internal/SD/external SD

Just a reminder. Help the devs by giving them something to go on and we might get a quicker solution 🙂

Yep same for me. I've now lost my 4gb of downloaded music cache twice. The download takes a hell of a long time. Cleared data and the cache, also reinstalled and the same thing happened. The best thing is that it happened once I had downloaded the 4Gb... again.

Details of the system:

- Nexus 4

- JB v4.2.2

- rooted

- stock android

- more than 2gb space on device

Come on, sort this one out. This is enough to make me cancel my subscription. Both Deezer and Google Music subscription, when it comes to Europe, are looking much more attractive at this point...

Just encountered this for the first time on a refurbished Samsung Galaxy S3 I activated yesterday. Tried all of the available solutions to no avail. Still a white screen for everything. The phone works fine otherwise.

I am going to cancel my premium membership due for renewal in the next few days until I am confident a solution has been found. No reason to pay for something I can no longer use.

Some added information:

Phone has not been updated to latest Verizon firmware because of major bug in that release (introducing multi-window support) because it wrecks 4g performance, So my firmware build is from last fall.

I reinstalled the app on my new phone with old SIM card and memory card intact. I did subsequently wipe out the spotify subdirectories on the memory card while trying to troubleshoot to no effect.

I also tried to login using spotify credentials and then facebook when the former did not seem to take. Could there be a conflict with login data?

The totally white screen to me feels like some part of the app is corrupting something on spotify's end which is why reinstalling does not work (is there a unique device Id Being quietly generated and passed to spotify even without a formal login?) or the app ends up damaging or corrupting some external component it is relying on being there before it loads the screen. Or it is hung up trying to authenticate the account and cannot load the menu screen because it is not getting the authentication message it needs.

Some new tidbits:

1. One difference on this phone is that I installed the Facebook app on it. Had not used it before. After deleting it, I was able to get Spotify to present an error message saying it could not find/use external SD card to store music. Then it went back to the white screen. Tried deleting Spotify app and reinstalling with same white screen and no SD card error message.

2. Are others encountering this running the Facebook app as well? Perhaps the linkage between Facebook and Spotify has corrupted something.

I don't have any Facebook apps installed on my devices and I am also having this issue. So this issue shoudln't be related to the Facebook app.

Installed old version from m.spotify.com

Now running old versions on both desktop and phone in order for things to work. What is going on.. I'll be back after a month, maybe things  have changed.

  • Your device

4.1.2

  • Is your device rooted

No

  • Custom ROM details if applicable

no

  • Space left internal/SD/external SD

Internal SD  32GB, no external.

And I am glad Spotify is on it, but working for a software company myself, utterly breaking your application is simply unacceptable. I am constantly raving to people about how awesome Spotify is. Feeling like a chump. Hope the fix comes along shortly Or Ill go back to Google and Pandora.

OK... it's one more thing to cross off the list I guess. At this point, there does not seem to be any workable solution around this. The tech support e-mails I am getting are suggesting things already mentioned in this thread. Tried and failed to make any difference. It is costing Spotify $10 a month from me alone, having successfully dropped my premium service back to "free" earlier today.

Has anyone tried a reformatted/new SD card in the phone and fixed this? My SD card is from my old Galaxy S3 that was returned for being defective but I am reluctant to reformat it if it makes no difference.

You could maybe try a clean reinstall without an external card at all. If it works, that will give the support guys something more to work on.

Just tried it. No good. Still the infamous white screen.
