Bluetooth streaming problems - BMW

So, I'm having a new problem in my car (BMW F20 LCI) when listening to music.

Connect my phone and everything works just fine.

Music plays as it should until I get a phone call, when the phonecall ends the music will not start playing again. In the Spotify app the music is playing and it is playing through the car (does not default to some other location/device).

To get music in my car again I have to delete/re-pair the phone/car. No amount of car/phone/bluetooth on/off resolves the issue.

I have checked all auto start/audio/bluetooth settings in both the app and Android settings.

I have cleared all the cache, deleted the app, factory reset android etc etc. The problem persists.

Other music apps do not have this problem, Google Play for example works just fine.

Any thoughts on what else to try before I give Spotify the flick for good?
