The playback speed for the podcast is being reset to 1x every time you open the app. Previously, the app would remember your setting and start playing the podcast at the speed you had chosen before (for example, 1.2x). It is really annoying to have to change this setting each time you open the app.
This issue began in the last couple of weeks, before that, it worked just fine.
I am experiencing the same issue in the iPhone app. It is very frustrating and annoying. I’m using iOS 18.1.1 and latest app version.

We tried this on our end, but we couldn't replicate it. Just to confirm, is this only happening on your phones or on other devices as well?
First up, we suggest that you try logging out and then logging back in to your accounts twice in a row. We know it sounds odd, but this will trigger a sync between your accounts and devices.
If this doesn't do the trick, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.
Lastly, sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your devices would come in handy (if you haven't already).

The logout/login twice worked for me! Playback speed not resetting anymore. Thanks for the help!
The issue still persists for me. If i would have to throw a wild guess: maybe it has something to do with the added ad-tracks (which can’t be skipped/ fast forwarded and have to be 1x). Maybe just correlation but no causality but that all my podcast reset to 1x i experienced for the first time after having one of those ad sequences in a podcast.

@Noahti, would you mind confirming if you've already followed the troubleshooting steps previously mentioned by @Eni? If so and the issue persists, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.
Also, remember to include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
