My Question or Issue

Why does the Cache size for Spotify rise to multiple GBs? I have had storage warnings and must now regularly clear the cache  less my phone slow due to lack of memory, and my phone is not old or outdated.

Please develop the Spotify mobile app to do one of the following:

Limit Spotify cache to a reasonable size (< 100MB) at all times.

Make a setting that allows an user to limit cache size.

Additionally what role does this cache serve? Is it for the benefit of the user or a catalogue of data to be sold onto third party advertisers? If the latter, why?

Hey, welcome to the community and thanks for sharing your thoughts on how the cache is currently handled. Just so you know, there is a live idea right now that I recommend voting and commenting on as it's directly related to what you've described. You can find that here.

As for your question regarding why the cache is so large, I'm just guessing here, but I would imagine it has to do with limiting overall data usage so that it can continue to play songs when out of range of a cell signal, but I agree that it would be very useful to be able to limit how big the cache can get.
