Can't find phone in desktop client

Solved!

Can't find phone in desktop client

Hey,

at first let me tell you that I am aware that I am not the only one with this problem, but all the other solutions I found didn't work...

The problem is that I don't see my phone under the device-menu on the desktop client

What have I tried so far:

  • turning off any firewall
  • un- and re install the Desktop Client
  • un and-reinstall the Mobile App (and cleared the data)

My Versions:

  • Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android 4.1.2
  • Spotify Mobile App: 0.7.3.636.ga3aacdd3
  • PC: Windows 7
  • Spotify Desktop Client: 0.9.6.81.gd359a796

Of course both devices are in the same WiFi.

Any help is appreciated

It seems odd.. but after putting a custom ROM on my Galaxy S3 it worked just fine... Or maybe in the meantime there was a softwareupdate

Might be worth trying to set up an ad-hoc (p2p) WiFi network and see if they can see each other other that to rule out this being a router issue.

Hi Peter,

I just came to test it at my Parents house (other router and other PC). It worked here. So I guess it's the router. Is UPnP really necessary to get this feature to work?

Thanks

I think so! Never had time to sit down and play with it!

Thats too bad. as my router has "due to security issues to upnp support"

UPnP makes life a lot easier. Without it, you can still get devices to communicate successfully but you will have to create the necessary permissions by hand.
