Can't log in due to offline error message

Can't log in due to offline error message

I recently bought a new SD card to give myself more room for music on my spotify permium account. I transferred all the old data from the old SD card to the new. Yesterday, I had issues accessing my songs on mobile (LG K8), but this was solved by turning on permissions to access SD card. Though there was some initial lag between playing songs (only playing them online when they had been downloaded), the playlist seemed to work fine.

But today, I get the same issue of Spotify mobile app thinking that it's offline, when it isn't set to offline and the phone is connected to the internet. I try reformmating the SD card, since it was causing restart issues with my phone. But when I try and log in, it says "You are currently set to offline, please go online to connect to spotify". I click connect, but get the same error message.

On the login screen, there is a message below the password which says "We are currently experiencing problems. Please try again later." I'm connected to and using Spotify desktop just fine, with no issues what so ever.

I'm at a complete loss as to what to do here. Can anyone help?

Edit: A re-installation of the app and logging in with facebook solved the issue.

Hey @MysticMind89,

I'm glad to hear that reinstalling the app has resolved the issue! Just in case someone else has this question, here's some more info:

This is currently a known ongoing issue and is under investigation by the Spotify tech teams. You can add your +VOTE here so you can keep up to speed.

In the meantime, there's a workaround for this issue. When you get the "Please go online to connect to Spotify", just hit cancel > delete password > re-enter password > log in.

If that doesn't do the trick, performing a quick clean reinstallation of the app should help.

Have a great day 🙂
