Cannot control playback on Android phone, when playing on Echo Dot

My Question or Issue

When in the Spotify app on my phone, and my Echo Dot is selected as the Device I am listening on, I am unable to control playback.  I cannot skip track, play pause etc.

I can see what is playing, and if I ask the Dot to skip, the phone reflects the new track that starts playing.

If I load up the Desktop App or the Browser App I can control the Echo Dot playback OK.

It is just on the Android App where the controls do not work.

The App shows that I have skipped track, and shows the next track, but playback on the Dot is not affected,

This worked on the Android app previously.  Now it does not.
