My Question or Issue:
This is a description of my issue and how I fixed it.
I had an issue where one of the songs I downloaded was in very poor quality, this happened even though I have all my quality settings for streaming and downloading set to very high.
I removed the song from my downloads then played it again, Spotify streams it in high quality, downloading it "brought back" the low quality version; it didn't delete the song, so every time I tried to fix the quality it just found the stored data for the song and refused to update it.
steps I took that didn't work:
- remove from downloads
- change playlist (to allow cache to be wiped)
- delete cache
- shut down phone for 10s
- download song
then I tried:
- remove all downloads
- change playlist
- delete cache
- turn off spotify
- delete entire com.spotify.music
- shut down phone for 10s
- download song
and that didn't work
so then I tried:
- remove all downloads
- change playlist
- delete cache
- turn off spotify
- delete entire com.spotify.music
- in system settings I tapped Storage, Music and Audio, Spotify, and used Clear Storage
- shut down phone for 10s
- download song
and that worked, the system settings wiped the saved data when the app itself refused to do so
