ecently, I’ve noticed a frustrating issue when playing albums.
If I pull up an album and click on the first track, only that single track plays. The rest of the album is not added to the queue.
However, if I click any other track (e.g., the second or third), the rest of the album does get queued and plays through as expected.
Also, if I click the big green Play button at the album header level, the full album plays starting from the first track without any issue.
Once I’ve clicked the first track manually, the Play button changes to Pause (as if it’s playing the album), but it’s actually just playing that one track. To get the album to play properly after this, I have to:
Is this a known bug, or is there some new behavior I’m not aware of?
Hey @lehons,
Thanks for reaching out.
In case you haven't already, make sure to perform a clean reinstall of the app to see if that makes any difference, and let us know the make, model, OS version and Spotify version running on the affected device.
If that doesn't do the trick, would you mind sending over a video or a screen recording where we can take a better look at the issue? You can attach it to your next response or upload it to another platform like YouTube or Google Drive and send a link to it. Make sure to hide any personal or sensitive information, and to give it the relevant permissions if you decide to upload it somewhere else.
We'll be on the lookout.
I am also having this problem, but it only happens when I'm playing through my bluetooth speakers. And it doesn't matter if I click the first song in the album or if I click the green play button at the top. Only the first song is queued. If I manually play the second song, then all the other songs are queued.
Reinstalling the app didn't help.
Hey @moraur,
Thank you for joining the conversation.
We tried to replicate the behavior you're both mentioning, but the tracks are playing in the correct order when we click the first song of the album (making sure the Shuffle/Smart Shuffle feature is turned off). So to continue investigating this would you mind including the device information (make, model, os version and Spotify version) previously requested by @Novy?
Also, to take a better look at the issue, and if possible; could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look as requested previously? Remember that you can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).
We'll be on the lookout for your response.
I am seeing the same thing. I recorded a video here: https://youtube.com/shorts/58JnJa2NIFo?feature=share
I am on a pixel 7 with android 16, Spotify version 9.0.58.596
Hey @jackkutilek,
Thanks for the joining the thread and providing a video of the issue!
Does this only happen when connected to a speaker as @moraur mentioned? Have you tried any troubleshooting like clean reinstalling the app? (@lehons)
@lehons, @moraur, in order for us to report this to our tech team, we'll need your device models, OS versions and Spotify versions, so please provide them whenever possible.
Cheers,
Yep just started having this in the last few days while casting to a Denon AV receiver from a pixel 6a. Play the first song in an album and it will play that one song and then move on to "recommended songs".
Empty queue, shuffle off, no problem like this before until now.
I'm having the same issue, with albums and playlists, even playlists I have created. When I connect to Google nest speakers, it will play the first track, then queue up a whole playlist of random songs. I just did a clean reinstall, and have the same issue, when connecting to Google speakers.
Hey @Micca and @zacsta, welcome to the thread!
As we would like to investigate this behavior further, it would be very helpful if you could share with us the requested details by @MihailY in this post.
Thanks!
Yes, it only seems to happen when connected to a chromecast speaker. I tried a clean install, and still see the issue.
Hey folks,
Just to confirm, does a clean reinstall help temporarily (until the app is restarted, for example) or does it not have any effect on the described behavior at all? If possible, it's worth using another mobile device (that's not a Google Pixel) to see if that would make a difference.
It'd be great if you could let us know whether you noticed this after a recent OS or app update.
Keep us posted on this!
A clean reinstall does not help at all.
Yes it did start recently, but I'm not sure I can tie it to any specific update. I did get an os update recently too though, so it's possible it started after that update
Hey @jackkutilek,
Thanks, we've now forwarded this to our tech team for further investigation. We'll keep you posted on any updates in this thread.

My Question or Issue
Lately I've been noticing an issue where if I add multiple songs or an album to the queue it will fudge with the order.
Example: I queue up song one and it goes to the top of the queue. Then queue up a second and third song, second song goes after the first song like normal, but then the third songs will queue above the first one as the next to play.
Another Example with Albums: I have a song playing and queue up an entire album, the first and second song are either missing, or moved to the middle/end of the queue so the album is completely out of order.
I just got another os update on my phone, and now things are all working again.
Hey @jackkutilek,
Thanks for letting us know.
Everyone else, can you check for any pending OS and Spotify updates and let us now if the issue persists after installing them?
Cheers,
