My Question or Issue

I’m having an issue with my Galaxy S9 and Bose [QuietComfort 20 Acoustic Noise Cancelling] headphones with Spotify.

Previously, I could triple-click the button on my headphones to go back to the previously played song, but now it doesn’t work with Spotify. The triple-click still works fine with the Samsung stock music player and on other devices, so it seems isolated to Spotify on my S9.

I’m not sure if the issue started after a recent update to Spotify, but it seems likely to have coincided with the new version. Has anyone else faced this? Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hey @cian2199, welcome to the Spotify Community! 🎵

Could you try checking if there are any specific headphone settings? See if there are any ANC or Aware Mode settings that could be interfering.

Also, some phones have specific settings to set actions for headphone buttons. You can check that out as well, just to be sure. 🙂

Hello Amay,

Thanks for the response.

No headphone interference - works with other apps and did work just fine with Spotify until recently. Nothing changed in device or Spotify app settings.

Hey @cian2199,

Thanks for your reply!

We're unable to provide an ETA for a fix at the moment, but we’re regularly looking for opportunities to enhance the user experience for everyone, so your feedback on this is greatly appreciated. Keep in mind that the functionality of headset buttons depends on the combination of phone + headset that you're currently using.

In the meantime, make sure you're always running the latest version of Spotify so you don't miss out on any updates.

@Dessi, any update on this? Still annoying.

Any updates?

The same happens to me, Samsung wired headphones on a S25 FE.

It's laughable that people complain about this issue dating 2017.
