Hey there,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
This type of issue is commonly related to some damaged cache stored on your device. In this case, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.
If the issue persists, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
Playing now bad in notification section is not updating playing status (button state) or song name. It makes Bluetooth devices unable to stop playing (it can start tho) songs, also it is annoying because it's bugged on lock screen.
Android 14 (google Pixel Fol)
Video link proof (unable to embed it, because it asks for YouTube link): https://i.imgur.com/SIZKr1c.mp4
Experiencing the same issue. Complete reinstall didn't help.
Asus Zenfone 8 (Android 13, custom ROM)
Spotify version 8.8.80.599, no updates in the Play Store as of writing
Hey @spacerock27,
Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.
In this case, we'd recommend clearing the cache directly from the app settings. To do it, go to the app, select your profile picture and tap on Settings and privacy. There, under Storage, select the Clear cache option.
If possible, select Remove all downloads option under Storage as well. Be aware this last option will remove all your downloaded content. Once you've done that, close the app, making sure it’s not running in the background. Afterwards, open it and check if this continues to happen.
If the above doesn't do the trick, would you mind sending us a video recording of this behavior? You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.
Keep us in the loop!
Hi
As I had stated, I had completely uninstalled the app from within Android and reinstalled. Issue persisted afterwards.
Behavior is basically as shown in an earlier post by someone else in this thread. Unfortunately, it's fairly hard to reproduce on command, as I can't figure out the exact scenario that causes it.
Hi @spacerock27,
Thanks for sending over the video!
Could you try signing out from the account > restart your device > log back in again? As odd as this may sound, this action will resync your account info.
If possible, could you also ask a friend or family member to sign into their account on your device to check if the same thing happens to them?
Let us know how it goes. Cheers!
Alright, tried logging out and back in. As expected, was able to still cause the behavior.
Also tried on another device, also on Android 13, and have been able to reproduce, though I'm still unsure how to reproduce. It seems to happen after some period of time?
Hey @spacerock27,
As a next step, can you please go through your phone's settings and make sure Spotify is excluded in any memory- or battery-optimizing services and has the necessary permissions enabled? Feel free to reach out to your device manufacturer for a detailed guide on this.
Let us know what happens.
Set battery optimization to Unrestricted and still got it to happen. App has Notifications permissions enabled
Plus side is that I think I've found a consistent way to cause it.
Play some music
Stop playing for about 15min (or longer)
Go back to playing music
Incidentally, installed an older version from an APK file (8.8.76.667) and this version doesn't seem to have this problem.
Hey @spacerock27,
Thanks for the additional info.
We've forwarded this to the relevant team here at Spotify, however, we can't confirm when it will be addressed. In the meantime, please make sure to keep your app up-to-date.
Cheers,
Issue persists in 8.8.82.634
I'm still having this problem, Galaxy S10 Android 12
I'm also having this problem. Galaxy s22 Android 13
