Agree with all of the above- such a distracting and frustrating feature. It is not something to get used to - it is a poorly designed and irritating function. So much that I have turned off my app to come to the internet to find a way to turn the fecking thing off!!
Yet, here I am, with a lot of fellow users all saying the same thing - turn it off, give ME the choice as I PAY for the app. if it no longer provides SATISFACTION or delivers to me the VALUE - I will get rid. It is not like there are no other places to get collated music and podcasts from is it?
This is one of the worst changes I have ever seen on any app. One could get used to the change in the layout, or to have to look for the personalized mixes. But an application that suddenly starts playing random music or podcasts is plainly disrespectful for users (and the people around them). Not allowing to disable or mute this doubles down on the disrespect, and prevents to sanely use this application in many environments.
Really, I couldn't believe it, I have even fully reset my application settings thinking that I had messed up something.
I have already started to try alternatives after many many years using Spotify quite happily. I want an Android application for music streaming, and as of today Spotify doesn't offer a reasonable one.
This is the worst update Spotify has ever done and I will be unsubscribing if it isn't removed or at the very least able to be turned off.
Seriously… I don’t know who was asking for this change, but it clearly wasn’t implemented to improve user experience.
Spotify team please remove **bleep**
And please answer your users is it better to loose users???😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😪😪😪😪😪
Clearly someone at Spotify thinks making their app look more like TikTok is a genius idea... But consider that TikTok is specifically designed for "bite-sized" videos (and short attention spans). I guess this is how Spotify wants us to experience music now? No thanks. This is the kind of awkward user experience we get when a developer tries to make their app into a bloated hybrid of all things trendy. At least let us mute the feed permanently so we're not constantly reminded of how useless the home screen now is.
This layout change is making me want to switch providers. I can't find any new music now without scrolling through a tiktok like display of music I have already played.
The auto play needs a permanent mute toggle or some way to shut it off.. I no longer will open Spotify to browse, particularly in an office environment because it blasts music.
I also hate this. Now everytime I open my Spotify app on my phone it starts blaring out some random "popular album" I don't like or want. This update is backward and completely obnoxious. You're letting down your users, Spotify - give us the choice instead of forcing advertising and guessing our preferences. Let us at least be able to turn it off, Spotify! Rubbish. I'm a Premium user for years but will definitely leave if this is the new norm.
The most annoying update Spotify could create!
Interface is horrible, suggesting a lot of **bleep** in auto play.
There is no way of disabling this, I’m copying my liked songs one by one (no export of course), to use another app, probably Tidal that has also better sound quality.
Stop bagging, you are paying for this service. Go to the competitor instead, no app should be on the monopoly of music

I've been a premium subscriber since Jan 2014. Unsubscribing until this super annoying "feature" is removed. Honestly, what are these product ppl thinking? Vote w/ your wallets everyone!
We pay for Spotify you have already monetize the app. Spamming users is not the way to go. No one is big enough to not fail..!
They appear to have fixed the issue on the most recent update. Now when you navigate to the home screen it still looks the same but you tap to activate the sound instead of tapping to turn it off.
Same issue here. Anyone have a link to "vote" this down as a feature?
It's not quite a case of disabling a new app feature but just just muting the annoying pushy video at full volume. Worst thing is, it doesn't have the intelligence to know you're already playing audio in a different app and plays over it simultaneously. Crazy bad design.
Anyways, fix: hit volume icon in top right of video image. This should mute the audio, it mutes all videos as you scroll. I've closed out of the app and re-opened it, seems to remember I've muted it. Haven't rebooted my phone though.
Not much more to be said but if this doesn't change I'm out. You blew it, Spotify. Capice?
Please give us the option to turn this atrocious feature. I cringe when opening the app anymore.
Here to complain about this so-called feature. Please allow us to turn this off! It's disruptive, annoying, and distracting!
