How to stop Spotify opening automatically on mobile?

How to stop Spotify opening automatically on mobile?

So I often listen to spotify on my desktop computer at home and my laptop at work.
When I playing music on a separate device and using my phone, often times Spotify opens itself automatically and the music controls show up in my notification bar on mobile. So for example, I'll be playing a game on mobile and try to turn down the volume on the game and end up turning down the music on my PC because Spotify opened suddenly when I did not want it to.
I have to open the app, close the app, and then clear the media controls from my notification bar, and most of the time it just pops right back up immediately. The only thing I've known to work is force stopping the app.

Not enough space to continue typing question. Cool, thanks.

Issue still occurring. A recent change has become my "last straw" with spotify. I am actively searching for a better option for music streaming and looking to cancel my premium subscription before my next payment is due at the end of this month. Seriously considering Deezer and already downloaded it on my phone.

Just wanted to put it out there somewhere staff can see that the lack of attention to acknowledged bugs is one of the many reasons I am leaving and that seeing some actual action on this issue probably wouldn't convince me to change my mind, but might help. Yall keep making changes to the app that DECREASE quality of life, that no one asked for or wants, while raising prices and completely ignoring making sure the app actually works before you add new features. I just can't anymore.

I've been following your posts with interest and hope. I'm gutted that Spotify have given such poor attention to this issue and as a result, am looking elsewhere to take my family subscription also.

I listen to Spotify web player on Microsoft edge while at work. It keeps sending me a notification to my phone that I am still connected to web player and then it will start running in the background on my phone is there a way to stop this from happening?

this is driving me crazy after I voice type even though I wasnโ€™t playing Spotify before I started voice typing after I finish, Spotify will automatically start itself!

This is an Android issue, not a Spotify issue.

You will need to interrupt the Media Handler by using an app like Tasker to "absorb" the automatic playback function.

Try this:

The issue I am describing does not involve Bluetooth in any way. Furthermore, it has already been acknowledged as a Spotify bug by Spotify staff.

Thanks, though. If that's an issue other folks are having hopefully that article will be helpful.

In mobile settings of Spotify app go to battery usage and toggle off "Allow foreground activity" and "Allow background activity"

I don't want Spotify to automatically open on my phone or act as a remote when I open Spotify on my pc.
Its annoying when i try to turn up the volume on my phone and my computer starts blaring cause it defaults to controlling the volume of the Spotify on my pc or even ps5.

My Question or Issue

Hello everyone,
If I listen to artist A on my phone and then to artist B on another device, then artist B also becomes visible on my phone.
Can't the playlist that I play on my phone be paused and, as soon as I listen to my phone again, continue where it left off?

For example, if I cycle to work now, then I listen to artist/album A, at work to artist B and if I want to cycle back, then I want to listen to artist A again at the moment that the music stopped earlier in the day.
Now I have to search for the artist/album/playlist again and think; this song was last played this morning.

Definitely not fun if you are listening to a long mix, do you remember at what moment you paused the mix?

No matter what I do I can't stop Spotify from opening on its own every time my useless touch-control headphones get bumped. I'll be watching Netflix, headset gets touched, then it'll pause so Spotify can play over it.

It's so obnoxious that this is a feature and after all this time no fix has been possible.

My only choices are to disable my headphone controls every time I connect them or uninstall Spotify.

In my experience,  Spotify does everything they can to auto open on Android.  They have no respect for user permissions.

Same issue happening for me.  Spotify skyway tries to open in background and force open despite any settings to the contrary in my permissions.

Same for me, Spotify blame my car.

When it happens with my ear buds, they blame my ear buds.

When Spotify opens automatically when I reboot my phone, they blame my phone.

That doesn't work,  that will stop Spotify from streaming or playing when one wants to use it.

I have the "Spotify Connect Control" toggled off. Yet, every time I listen to Spotify on my laptop, Spotify opens in the background on my phone, draining my battery. I don't want to use my phone to control Spotify on my computer. Currently, I'm using the Settings app on my phone to restrict background usage for Spotify, which works, but also means that I need to manually turn background usage back on for Spotify when I want to listen on my phone. Can something please be done so that my phone's battery won't be drained when I'm listening to music on my computer? It's been an issue for a while and starting to make me wonder whether it was worth switching to Spotify in the first place.

I saw similar ideas, but this could be a different one. So I have this scenario:

- I am playing Spotify on my mobile

- My mobile is connected to a Bluetooth speaker (and of course, I am listening through that speaker)

- Then I go to my PC and switch the device to my PC on Spotify app

- Everything is fine, I am listening in my PC

- I turn off the Bluetooth speaker (I don't need it anymore, right?)

- Spotify switches the device back to mobile (ruins the whole idea, basically!)

Thank you for reading my babbling,

Gabrielius
