How to use the notification slider controls

My Question or Issue

We have been pointed to the Notification Slider controls to replace the functionality of the "retired" widget. What are the steps involved in getting these controls always on. If I pause music for 5 minutes, or take a call, or basically do anything, the controls disappear from the notification bar.

How do we use this for similar functionality as the widget used to have?

You can't change it to always on.

If the App gets closed or put in standby the Notification control disappears. It has to be active.

Maybe your phone closes it for energy saving. Should be there for more than 5 Minutes.
