Lost all my offline music - AGAIN

Lost all my offline music - AGAIN

Dear Spotify,

Spotify did it again. I am a premium user with 2000 offline songs at least. I like this service so much, I am relying on it for my entire music library, and I have less than 3 MP3 albums on my phones, only the few that are not available on Spotify.
It also takes 3-4 hours to backup all offline songs to my phone with a fair Internet connection. This morning, switched on my phone, was about to go on a 4 hour-trainride, opened Spotify to get in the musical mood of the day.

There it was, that weird "Log in / Sign up" screen once again. I log back in, to find ALL MY OFFLINE MUSIC HAS BEEN DELETED just like I was never logged in to Spotify on this device. I used it yesterday and it worked fine, my subscription payment is up to date.
I don't know how this bug is not important enough it wasn't fixed. I cannot afford at any time to lose 3 hours of my time to re-backup my entire offline music because I got logged off the app for no reason.

Any idea? Do you know if they plan to fix this?

Julien.

It happened soo many times after my last message. Now my sd card gives error massage and it says i lost my every data! thanks to spotify, downloading 3000 songs every week for this thing now it effect my sd card cause overwriting!!

Same here, i Got a Huawei 6X with a SD Card and everytime i restart the phone spotify is logged out and i can not even log in because it was in "offline mode" - but you can't turn it in Online mode because you can't log in - so i have to reinstall the app every f*ckn time and of course i have to download 3500 songs again.... Closing this thread seems to show that they are not interested in solving this problem 😞

This issue is clearly NOT "solved", as Spotify would like us to believe. I finally got so sick of my music going away I cancelled my account and am now trying Apple Music. It's maddening that nobody from Spotify will even acknowledge that this is and issue, and for that I hope they go right down the toilet. Surely someone can come up with a music streaming service that does what it's supposed to do.

I am just going to bump this thread again, since the issue is STILL here. I can't believe that after all this time Spotify still hasnt done anything to solve this. We KNOW how it happens, so how come it is being ignored?

Fix your **bleep**, spotify. This is literally the only thing that annoys me about your service at this point, but it is by far the worst and most obvious annoyance in any app ever.

I have a pixel 2 phone and it happened to me

Dear Spotfy, Same problem. This is unacceptable! I just renewed my premium subscription, but it was not happening on my app so had to logg off and logging again. I lost all my off line music! In fact, my playlist is gone so I cannot even dowload the same songs at once, everything is gone. More than 1000 songs. How is this possible? How can the Spotify team not be able to fix this trivial problem! I will unsubscribe and get an alternative app. So disappointed!

Spoiler

Every other week for me 😞 new oneplus5t ! Got one with 128gb storage only to have to keep redownloading 😞

Happened the same to me here, for the first time... it has never happened before, but it seems it's quite common as per this thread.

Maybe it was after an app update, I can't tell really. I just opened the app normally, already logged in as usual, but all downloaded playlists and songs were gone. It's still using 10GB of disk storage though.

Just frustrating as this is not what you expect for paying a premium account.

Android 6, version 8.4.52.812

Happened to me too. Very annoying and still no fix.

Spotify is going down.

Me too.

Been having this problem intermittently for years now, seems to be triggered by updates and/or restarts, seems to be Spotify shooting themselves in the foot with DRM (well, I mean when doesn't DRM cause a load of problems) since they got some hefty encryption and everything going on, so I'm guessing they just loose the encryption key or something along those lines have no support whatsoever of rescanning files.

Now losing files themselves isn't the complete problem, but not managing to just scan for them and import them back into the library, that's the whole point, they're there and Spotify doesn't clean them up neither does it recognize them... There's no other app I know off which just suddenly loses 60 GB of data it shows incompetence in a way here

Howlong is this gonna last still...

This is, indeed, a clear sign of incompetence and bad service. And it is shocking to me that such a trivial issue, keeping a list of name that can be used to re-download files, cannot be fixed. It would take nothing to fix the problem but it has been years and they simply don’t care about customers need. If there would be an other decent platform Spotify will simply disappear from the face of heart in one year.

It's funny that I keep getting alerted to the replies in this thread.....I switched to Apple Music immediately after posting my comment months ago and have had ZERO regrets. I can't imagine continuing to put up with this ridiculous "glitch" that Spotify doesn't seem to care to fix. Good riddance.

Are you happy with apple music? Is it a good alternative? I tried google play and I didn’t like it at all.
Thank you,
Giuseppe

I'm extremely happy with Apple Music and have ZERO regrets leaving Spotify. It works seamlessly with my iPhone and most importantly, I don't have to re-load all of my music every time there's an update. I strongly recommend the switch.

I am not sure if it's a feature thing because I am always online.  And this happened to my more than two times already.

Thank you for the advice. I will!

Wow this issue dates back to 2016.. started happening to me a month or two ago. Maybe it's a bug that occurs with large offline libraries of 1 - 2000+ songs?

I did a quick search and I feel like I see a new thread about this every day for the past week. Should the Spotify team address this and start investigating the issue? It seems to be affecting quite a number of people lately,  and none of the tips listed in the help article are applicable either.

Yes, this have been happening to a number of users for a long time. Unfortunately, the Spotify team doesn't give a **bleep** to this problem or they users. They won't fix it. It's a shame.

Luckily, since I changed my smartphone last year, this problem didn't affect me anymore. Still, how Spotify is not interested in fixing this problem is just disappointing, to say the least.

I had less than 50 and I still lost them. Twice. Very annoying. If it's a
deliberate action then users should be given info about when/how often
their downloads will be wiped, and warned before it happens. If it's a
glitch then...well it would have been fixed by now so it's highly unlikely
it's a glitch

It's a glitch. Just pay attention how it happens. I had 7 to 8 Gb of music when this problem happened to me every week. Your music don't simply delete by itself. What happens is that the app don't recognize your downloaded music no matter what. It doesn't show it's offline even though you have 8 Gb in your store. And there is no way they would do in purpose without letting anyone knowing.

And again, it's a glitch and Spotify doesn't care.
