Low volume on Android app

Low volume on Android app

The sound is incredibly quiet in the Android app. I have to put the volume at 100% if I want to get the same volume I'd get playing the same song at 60% volume in Google Play or my phone's native music app. Is there a fix for this? I find it disappointing considering that I am paying for this.

Hey @JValGD

Welcome to the forums!

On andiod devices their is something called an equalizer. when this is activated this can soemtimes affect the playback volume.

Could you check if you have this switched on or not?

Thanks.

The volume is way too low on android, spotify simply won't output a higher volume. Unless you can help me with this problem, I'm seriously considering switching to Deezer.

Hey @fred_-_,

Welcome to the forums, and sorry to hear you are having issues wth sound on your device.

Could you take a look at the following link and see if this helps at all:

https://support.spotify.com/us/using_spotify/troubleshooting2/spotify-playing-with-no-sound/

Also, could you check if you have the equalizer set to on, on your device also?

Thanks.

The volume of Spotify on Android has definitely decreased. When I'm in my car listening via Bluetooth I have to push the volume of my car audio to the max, which I didn't have to do before. This way older songs are much too quiet. It is really an issue that should be resolved soon, because indeed it will be a reason to end my subscription, if it lasts too long.

Spotify really needs to resolve this. This is definitely a problem - I always have to max the volume knob in my car and it still does not play 100%. Other apps and CD is fine so I know it is not my device or cars sound system

I thought i was the only one with this issue. Music sounds louder on YouTube. I downloaded a volume booster which helped slightly, but don't think outta fair that i have to do that since inn a premium member. I too am considering switching over to something else.

Not even putting my speakers/earphones at max can solve this. It's very annoying.

No, this is not fixed. It looks like this issue was reported 3 years ago and there still has been no fix for it besides installing an older version of Spotify. I have Android 7.0 and the latest version of Spotify. Also, turned ON or OFF Normalize Volume and EQ does not do anything. Please provide a fix ASAP!

Hi @drwvalenti!

We'll do our best to help you out.

To start, can you let us know what device, operating system, and the exact version of Spotify you're using?

Could you also let us know the version you used where the volume was higher?

Does lowering down the volume to mute and then moving it back to the top makes any change?

Keep us posted.

If I stop and start the track again sometimes the volume increase or decreases. Lower the volume the all the way and turning it back does not have an effect as well as turning the EQ on or off on my phone.

I have this same issue. I've been trying to fix it for weeks. At this point, i just want to cancel my subscription.

I've been having this issue too on my Blu Life One X2. Definitely cancelling of it's not fixed by the time my sub renews.

The volume is now extremely low. I recently had a party and have a huge Bluetooth speaker and it wasn't very loud at all. It was fine about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I have reinstalled and messed with the equalizer with no luck. Please help so I don't have to cancel my family subscription.

Thanks for your reply but it's not a problem with my device, it's a problem with spotify's built-in settings. Only the devs can change it...

@DefaOne

Hey @fred_-_, and everyone else facing this issue,

Thank you all for letting me know about this issue 🙂

For those that may have not tried this already, could I please ask you to unistall the app and then reinstall and try again for the error?

If after trying the reinstall you face the same could I please have the following information:

  • Device
  • Operating System
  • App Version

Thanks!

I've already tried reinstalling

I have the same issue. After several years using iPhone/iOS I'm returning to Android. I have a  Samsung Galaxy S8. The app's volume is considerably low in comparison to other apps as SoundCloud or Mixcloud, and didn't have this problem a days before with my iPhone.

The surprising and depointing part is this issue was reported years ago and there is still no solution. I'm seriously thinking to cancel my premium subscription. I don't like the idea though.
