Music doesn't start on Chromecast

I'm trying to get Spotify casting from my phone working on my Chromecast. I start a song on my Android phone, go to Devices, and cast to my Chromecast. The Chromecast switches to the Spotify page, but nothing plays and my phone eventually gives up trying to connect. The Chromecast just sits there, paused. Nothing can connect to it and it stays this way until I cast something using an app that actually works.

I've tried to troubleshoot.

• Other apps (e.g. YouTube) can cast things just fine ✓
• Installed latest firmware on Chromecast ✓
• Casting from a phone on the same network ✓
• Spotify app is up to date on the phone ✓
• Spotify account is Premium ✓
• Turned everything off and on again like it's a Microscoft tech support call from the 90s ✓

So is Spotify just garbage on the Chromecast or is there something I can do? Remember other casting works so router/internet issues are not applicable.

Same problem here. It's seems broken since a few updates. Newest version (updated today) doesn't work either. Very annoying.
