Sounds to me like Android (or another app) closing the process. Do you have any apps designed to save battery, clean cache or manage tasks? Thisnk like CleanMaster, JuiceDefender etc?
If so either disable and see if the issue persists or add SPotify to the apps WhiteList.
I have had this issue for several months...it seems like it is related to an upgrade as I have the same phone....same settings.

This could be tied to battery optimization as stated before, Android has this feature included which could be causing this.
Try heading to Settings > Battery > tap the three-dot icon at the top
> Battery optimisation > tap the drop-down arrow > All apps > Spotify > Don't optimize.
If that doesn't do the trick, try reinstalling Spotify to see if it helps.

What Android and Spotify version are you using?
Did you try reinstalling Spotify to see if it happens again? Also, does this happen when you listen to other media via the browser?

I've had the exact same problem just over the last week. All my settings have been triple checked and are fine. There haven't been any major system updates, don't have any cleaner apps and I haven't installed any new apps. Nobody seems to have any solutions.

Just to confirm, does the same happen if you use a different internet connection, or is it only when you use 3/4G?
Do you have access to a different Android phone you could use to see if it behaves the same?
