Not working at all. Galaxy s4

Whenever I try to open spotify on my phone it doesn't work. It sits on a blank screen. I tried to uninatall and re install and that did not help at all. I pay for spotify premium so this is very irritating. What can I do to fix this?

Using a Galaxy S4

Having exactly the same problem. Have managed to reinstall but it stops working once a week and I keep having to reinstall multiple times. Am a premium user and it's completely taking the enjoyment out of using Spotify!

I aalso have to keep redownloading my songs every time I reinstall.

Also I'm struggling to save songs to my external memory card. Just a few problems then.......

So... no support at all, it's still not working AT ALL!!!! Is it THAT difficult to fix? At least TRY to do more than just "uhm...reinstalling fixes everything" cause it **bleep**ING DOESN'T! I'm sick of this, I can't listen to my music, a service I'm PAYING FOR!!!! What is this nonsense? Are you even reading this?

-_- seriously? You have time to program an anti swearing filter but can't even provide support with this? Are you KIDDING ME???

I had the same issue you are describing, and even after i tried all the troubleshoot tips. It still crashed.

Finally i tracked down the problem for me, it was my SD Card.

When i put in a different one it went back to being stable again.

Maybe something you can try?

Mine was crashing with each attempt to start.  I removed the SD card completely and when spotify started again, it talked about not have an sd card and memory space.

So this crashing issue is related to usage of SD card.

Oh and I should note, my phone has 4.75gb of free space on internal memory

I have since uninstall the app and reinstalled without SD card attached.  App started first time.  And is working normally so far.

I just tried removing the external sd and even reinstalling then but that didn't work either. My phone also has an internal sd card though.

I just saw a thread with a sollution concerning your problem and also with a note3

Maybe you can try those steps

Thanks for the advice but I don't get any error at all, it just shows a black screen with a menu button, I'll still try the fix though and report back once I have.

"Start and log in" 😞 I can't even log in, so there goes the fix, thanks for the advice though, maybe it'll work for others. I did however manage to get to the log in screen by using the widget but when I pressed log in it froze. Also the widget trick doesn't work anymore now.

Well, just to think along with you.

Can you describe the steps you are doing?

Maybe by doing this, we can find another option for you to use.

can you uninstall the app from Settings - Apps then scroll to the Spotify app and tap on it, then press 'Uninstall' (or any other way you usually uninstall apps).

Once done using a file manager (such as ES File Explorer) make sure that the below folders are deleted (the second one may be still remaining from the older version of Spotify):

/Android/data/com.spotify.music
/Android/data/com.spotify.mobile.android.ui

Note: - Make sure to check both Emulated/0/ AND the /ext_sd/ locations for these folders as they could be on Internal memory or/and external SD card.

Now remove the SD card completely and go to the play store and install the Spotify Music app again (Direct Link). With the SD card still removed open SPotify and see if it loads OK. If it does then it may be a case that your SD card is corrupt and requires reformatting.

Well, I completely removed the app and data, removed sd card, rebooted, reinstalled, entered sd card and started the app, it doesn't even let me log in, just a black screen with menu button, pressing the button only darkens the screen as if the menu was pulled. If I don't force close the app afterwards, my phone wil slow down until I have to reboot.

Tried reinstall without sd, doesn't work

Did you also check if there were still spotify folders there after you deinstalled it?

Yup, both internal and external sd card

Maybe it's an idea to fill in most of the template, shown here:

and post it in this thread

So all the info is in one place, and you don't have to repeat yourself.
Also, it makes it easier for the mods to escalate this (i think it's called)

That...will take a while I guess

Well.. i don't think every question is relevant for you.

True, I'm on mobile though

Mmm... not the easiest way to do that...

good luck 😉
